Formica® Laminate: A Modern Choice
Can you hear the yelps of joy coming from my place? Yes, our kitchen redo is finally finished and I am so excited to share it with you! I have wanted to change our concrete kitchen countertops forever and was going back and forth on what I wanted. The concrete just didn’t hold up very well over time and to get it fixed properly would have been quite expensive. And Corian and Marble countertops are gorgeous but weren’t really what I was looking for. I wasn’t sure exactly what I wanted but I kept looking through Pinterest and Instagram looking for the perfect kitchen design that suited my tastes. So you can imagine my excitement when I saw an advertisement in a home décor magazine for Formica® Brand’s new Formica® Laminate Jonathan Adler Collection. I immediately fell in-love and hard. Jonathan Adler epitomizes modern and the collaboration between these two cool companies just makes so much sense.
I contacted Formica Corporation about collaborating and when we got the go-ahead to move forward, I was sent the Formica® Laminate Jonathan Adler Collection samples to choose from. The company offers over 200 colors and styles. I went with the Jonathan Adler Crème Lacquered Linen color as I wanted something fairly neutral with a bit of punch to it. I love the texture and movement this color offers and the wood grain goes well with our dark wood cabinets.
When selecting a color for your kitchen countertops, be sure to ask them for samples of colors and styles you are interested in. You can find the Formica® Laminate Jonathan Adler Collection at your local Lowes or select kitchen and bath dealers, or you can contact the company directly and ask for samples. You can go here to find local retailers.
One of the main reasons I wanted Formica® Laminate countertops is because of the durability of the product. Our family is pretty hard on our house and anything from our sofa, floors, to kitchen counters need to be able to stand a pretty active family!
The Formica Corporation has been in business since 1913 and throughout the years they have extended their collections offered. Formica laminate provides an affordable way for families to update their kitchens. And this is always a plus in my book. If you like the look of concrete countertops, they offer some really cool designs (and without the hassle of having to fix cracks or dings every couple years!) If you prefer a Marble countertop – they also offer some really interesting choices (without worrying about sealing it year to year). They even have some interesting wood grains. Innovative technology allows laminate countertop surfaces to mimic the look of natural wood or stone products and match subtle colors. The sky’s the limit with the Formica® Laminate product!
And Formica® Laminate doesn’t just go on your counter, it can be put on the sides of your kitchen island, kitchen table (I am thinking of doing this as ours has seen better days), cabinets, and even used as a backsplash.
Other benefits include:
Edges: With IdealEdge® by Formica Group options you can achieve a beautiful Bullnose or Ogee edge without the brown laminate line.
Sustainability: Formica Group has worked hard to bring specific product lines, production processes, and adhesives up to current, eco-friendly countertop standards. This includes:
Being the first laminate manufacturer in the world to be awarded the Carbon Trust’s Carbon Reduction Label
The ability to receive LEED building credits with the right combination of products.
Ever increasing amounts of pre- and post-consumer recycled content.
Offering FSC-certified laminates. The option to use low-VOC adhesives.
Offering products that meet special GREENGUARD standards for indoor air quality.
Quick Installation and Minimal Upkeep: If you want your kitchen countertops to be installed quickly Formica® Laminate countertops require minimal installation time and practically zero maintenance. That is one of my favorite aspects of Formica® Laminate countertops. The thought of having to seal my countertops yearly was not something that I wanted to have to deal with. With laminate, you have very little maintenance!
When deciding on a sink, I decided to go with a single basin stainless steel sink. I know some people don’t care for stainless steel because it scratches, but honestly, that is the least of my worries! I absolutely love the seamless Karran sink that is specifically made to go with Formica® Laminate countertops. There are literally no seams. It is neither an undermount or overmount sink. If you like the look of an undermount sink be sure to speak to your Lowes representative about the best options available.
A BIG THANK YOU to Formica® Brand for sponsoring this post and providing us with gorgeous kitchen countertops! We are very thankful for this collaboration but all opinions are our own.
And thank you Liquid Amber Designs for doing such a great job on demoing our concrete countertops and installing the new Formica® Laminate counters. They showed wonderful customer service and went out of their way to make sure we were happy with the finished job.
Thanks to Beatta of BMB Photography for all the gorgeous photographs for this post, Claire of CC Interior Design, and Rhonda Lopez, interior designer – all who helped create my new happy kitchen! Jim Ingram of Ingram Custom Tile & Remodel did a fabulous job on our backsplash!
In celebration, we are offering a $50 Lowes Gift Card to go towards whatever you might need for your home this holiday season. Or perhaps to go towards your new Formica® Laminate countertops? Good Luck lovely dandelion moms! Thanks for letting me share with you all my new kitchen!
