About

Melissa Northway, Dandelion Women Founder

My name is Melissa and I love to create.  After my daughter was born eight years ago,  I was inspired to write children’s picture books.  I joined the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI) to find out how to make my dream of publishing a children’s picture book come true.  The journey was long and tons of work, but in January 2011, my first storybook app, Penelope the Purple Pirate, was released through my company Polka Dots Publishing (yes, I started a publishing company to make it happen) and PicPocket Books. It is also available on Amazon and Barnes & Noble and I am currently working on my fourth children’s book. I am a big proponent of carving your own path and going after your dreams!

I created dandelion moms so that we can share our journeys  and inspire each other to live the life we’ve always dreamed of.

Charly James, Southern Region Contributor and Melissa’s right-hand gal.

Charly is a divorced mom of two kids (varying S/N). Southern born and raised (very sweet tea is my vice), watching TV (too much of it), anything tech, cooking/baking, MARVEL MCU and her kids! A sci-fi, used-to-be girl gamer, lover of books, art and music. A quirky, snarky (full of love and generosity) – basically a gnarly outlook on motherhood and her life. She has a passion for organizations that reflect her life’s journey before and after kids (thus far): Domestic Violence/Battered Women, United Mitochondrial Disease Foundation (UMDF), The Autism Society, MitoAction, Epilepsy Foundation, The Children’s Heart Foundation, SPD Foundation, NORD/Global Genes and spreading autism ACCEPTANCE (show ALL the colors not just blue!).
