Disney’s Finding Nemo

You have probably seen the advertisments for the re-release of Finding Nemo in 3D this past Friday and maybe even went to see this wonderful and Academy Award winning story of Nemo, Marlin and his friend, Dory at the theatres! In the wake of this re-release, Disney has released two new apps including Finding Nemo: Storybook Delux and Finding Nemo: Interactive Comic.

 Finding Nemo: Storybook Delux:

This is a great storybook app that has authentic underwater sounds, engaging narration and even original graphics from the movie. Some of the special features in this app include a Whale Chat with Dory where your child can talk to Dory and hear their words translated into WHALE!  How fun is that!  And if you tilt the iPad or iPhone, you can see the ocean come alive and can create underwater bubbles simply by touching the device.

The story offers several reading modes including Read to Me, Read It Myself and Record Your Voice.  This is a great feature for children as they can practice reading while having fun and recording their own voice.  There is also finger painting pages which we found really appealing as my daughter loves to paint and create her own art.  You even have the option to save to your photo to your library or email it to a family member.  There are interactive puzzles and a flipping shells memory matching game.  We really enjoyed the movie and are enjoying Finding Nemo: Storybook Delux as well!

Finding Nemo: Interactive Comic:

This app is a graphic novel for children ages 7 to 12.  Concept drawings by Disney Pixar artists who worked on the original film are also included in the app as well as a step-by-step drawing lessons.  A retelling of the feature film with panel by panel animation along with fun music and sound effects all make for an engaged child!

I like the fact that Disney put out two Finding Nemo apps.  The Storybook Delux app is great for the 4 to 7 year old crowd and the Finding Nemo: Interactive Comic Book is geared towards 7 to 12  year olds.  Plus, if you have an aspiring artist in the house, they will really enjoy learning how to draw as seen in this demonstration:

With Disney, you know you are getting a top-notch product.  And what’s not to love about Nemo and his friends!  We really enjoyed these two apps and plan to enjoy them for some time.
