JetBlue and PBS Kids Soar with Reading Giveaway

We want to congratulate JetBlue and PBS Kids for reaching their goal of raising $200,000 dollars worth of books for deserving communities through their Soar with Reading program.  This year they teamed up with Barefoot Books and were able to put books into the hands of families and communities who might not otherwise have access to age-appropirate children’s books.

You can read more about the Soar with Reading program in our Spotlight On section this week: https://dandelionmoms.com/2012/09/jetblue-and-pbs-kids-soar-with-reading-program/

And they have provided us with some  goodies which include a children’s book, Soar with Reading activity kit, PBS KIDS button, PBS KIDS Bookmarks and pencil.  Each backpack is valued at $25 and we have 5 to hand out to some lucky dandelion moms.

I remember reading the Bobbsey Twin books. I’m sure I read other books before those, but I can’t remember them.

The first book I remember reading – wow that is tough. I remember the 1st chapter book – Little House on the Prairie. My great grandma used to tell me stories when I was a kid. Things like Aliba and teh 40 theives. Loved to listen to her …

The first book I remember reading was One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish. The important thing about this book was that is was MINE. I have six brothers and sisters, and most of our books were shared. We used to fight over who got to read The Happy Hollisters book when it came in the mail. But One Fish was MY book. 🙂

If it counts it was Mother Goose – Nursery Rhyme type books 🙂 and then of course all of the princess books and I would even read my dad’s books from work *lol* I devoured books by like there was no tomorrow. I love hearing my kids read now along with their love for reading and how my daughter makes up her own stories or different adventures the characters go off and do after we complete a book. ♥
