A Beautiful Fall In Santa Monica

Santa Monica  is a wonderful place to visit any time of year, but Fall is especially nice with beautiful, warm days and lots of fun activities. While it can get a little nippy at night with the ocean breeze, a sweatshirt or light sweater will usually be enough.

Santa Monica hosts many fun activities through the months of October through November. If you missed the Halloween fun, be sure to check out the Thanksgiving and Christmas activities.

Every year, Downtown Santa Monica creates a little piece of heaven known as ‘ICE at Santa Monica‘ right on the corner of 5th Street and Arizona Avenue. This incredible outdoor skating rink gives tourists and locals a fun way to experience the ‘feel’ of winter without having to bundle up and head North.

Santa Monica has a fun arts and crafts show in November, as well as live entertainment on weekend nights at the Plaza.  Because the weather is so nice in November you can get out and enjoy the Third Street Promenade;  a fun, pedestrian friendly place to take an afternoon or evening stroll. While walking the Third Street Promenade you will find fun places to dine and shop, as well as movie theaters and unique street performers.

The Holiday Tree lighting is coming up fast  with the arrival of Santa Claus, on the 17th on November. This is a fun family event that will help you get into the Holiday Spirit. And don’t forget the  Thanksgiving Community Dinner and Celebration on the 22nd of November. This is a great event to bring the community together, in a way where those with more, can help those less fortunate, and feel of the Thanksgiving spirit.

The Gobble Wobble 5k is on the 24th of November, starting at 6:30 a.m.  This is another family -friendly activity featuring a Widdle Wobble 1K race for kids. If running is your thing, this is a beautiful place to do it. All participants are encouraged to bring a can of food for the Westside Food Bank. What a wonderful way to do something fun for you, while helping others.

Last, but not least, don’t forget to visit the Historic Santa Monica Pier. This pier was built in 1909 and was the first concrete pier on the west coast. For a little bit of interesting history on the Pier and Santa Monica, make sure you stop and check it out.

So if you are looking for a fun spot to visit for an afternoon or a weekend, Santa Monica is a fantastic choice. Beautiful, Southern California! What could be better, any time of year? (I’ve heard it stays around 70 degrees in November.) Now you can drag your summer out a little longer in Santa Monica.
