SPEECH PUPS LLC is based in Alexandria, Virginia and develops apps for the iPad to help people who have speech and/or language difficulties. The creator of Speech Pups LLC is Leanne who is a speech language pathologist working with preschool through 5th grade students. Leanne also consults and trains SLPs and special education teachers how to use the iPad and apps in therapy/classroom. So far she has designed her first app “Questions2Learn” (a lite version is also available). “Questions2Learn” is designed to help students and people of all ages understand and learn how to answer who, what, where, and when questions. Many of Leanne’s students who have difficulty using their verbal abilities and have significant cognitive weaknesses have benefited from using “Questions2Learn” during therapy sessions. Leanne’s students have the ability to answer many questions, however, it is sometimes a challenge to keep them motivated and to constantly create picture choices for the students who are non-verbal. This app will save you time when creating activities to work on questions. It will also give you the option to adjust each student’s settings so you can work on their individual needs, that often change from week to week. Speech Pups LLC is working on a Spanish version “Questions2Learn”! Facebook Page: https://www.facebook.com/SpeechPupsLLC Website: https://www.speechpups.com/

DANDELION MOMS is based in Irvine, California and was created by award winning children’s author, Melissa Northway. Melissa wanted to create a website that embraced all women to show that they all women are beautiful, strong and resilient. Melissa’s journey started six years ago after the birth of her daughter. It was then that Melissa was inspired to write children’s picture books. Melissa joined the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI) to find out how to make her dream of publishing a book come true. The journey was long and tons of work, but in January 2011, her first storybook app, “Penelope the Purple Pirate”, was released through her company Polka Dots Publishing (yes, Melissa started a publishing company to make it happen) and PicPocket Books. Melissa shares her story as often as she can because she didn’t listen to the naysayers who said the way she was going about getting her story published wasn’t the way it was done. Melissa is a big proponent of carving your own path and going after your dreams. Melissa’s biggest hope is that you are inspired by the women who write about their journey on dandelion moms and she encourages all to share theirs as well! Winning an iPad mini would benefit 2 autistic children! My son would get the mini because he has trouble handling the larger iPad due to his fine motor skills issues. My niece would then get my son’s iPad because she is older & is more able to handle the larger size. Both children are autistic, my niece more so, and iPads are wonderful educational tools that make a world of difference in their lives.

It has been a very trying year for my daughter and I. We live in the USA. Some things happening at the end of August that rocked the foundation of our lives. My daughter was born to a mom that drank alcohol her entire pregnancy as well as doing drugs. She has FASD, autism, Sensory integration disorder, depression, anxiety, cerebral palsy thankfully mild, asthma and a number of other diagnoses and in September PTSD was added. There are meds to be given, doc appointments, specialist appointments, therapy appointments and my own health issues. I cannot keep track of much as my own brain is totally mush from stress. This would help me to greatly keep track of appointments, med times, remember why I am at the store or therapy office, have documents available for IEP meetings and so much more. If you need to know what happened the end of August please email me and I will disclose it to you.

Hello! Enjoying your page! What winning the iPad mini would mean to me is that I would be able to help my son with his speech delays, help with reading, help with learning emotions. Right now, he uses my nieces iPad. I was lucky enough to win some awesome apps during one of the parties held around Halloween and I put them on her iPad for him to use. He loves them. The iPad has so many wonderful applications that would benefit him in so many ways. My son is 11 years old. He started junior high this year. He has such a hard time communicating. It would be so wonderful to not have to borrow a device from family when they visit. I know there are so many deserving people, children and adults alike who need one just as much, if not more so than my son. So good luck to all who have entered this drawing as well as all other drawings!! And thank you for the consideration and reading my comment! 🙂

I am American, but live in Hong Kong, and my kids go to local Cantonese school. Before this, we lived in Beijing, and they went to local Mandarin pre-school. As a result, I have to supplement English learning at home, and apps on my very old iPod help me do that.
We use a lot of storyapps, listening apps, reading and writing apps as well as apps for helping to write Chinese! This really makes a difference for my children’s experience and I am convinced that thanks to the storyapps and Tales2Go their fluency and vocabulary in English is much beyond where it should be for kids whose whole day is in Chinese.
Now that my kids are almost 6 and 7 and in primary school, a larger screen would be much more useful, especially for more writing practice and educational apps that are only available on the ipad.
Thank you all for your great products and this giveaway!
Jacqueline aka LantauMama
PS My kids LOVE Penelope, both my son and my daughter. We have it as an app and an audio story – such a great story and one that is often requested by them!!
