A Unique Valentines Day Card Craft
The Love Bug Card Valentine’s Day Craft!
If you are in need of a quick, inexpensive, fun and unique Valentines Day craft to do with the kids – you just might enjoy the one my daughter and I did today! We went online to look for something fun we could do together after a trip to the grocery store where we found a poor selection of cards. In my search online, I came across dandee designs website. She has some great suggestions for unique cards that are quite simple to make. My daughter is all about bugs these days so we went with the Happy Valentines Day Love Bug craft. It was so easy to do and fairly inexpensive I wanted to share it with you! To see more Valentine’s Day card ideas you can check out www.dandee-designs.com.
You will need:
Download the Love Bug jar image here: https://www.dandee-designs.com/2012/02/love-bug-valentines.html Go to the bottom of her post to find the download.
We needed 32 Valentines so we made 10 sheets of colored paper at our local Office Depot as each paper has 4 jars. I would go with a thicker paper stock so it makes it more like a card and it is easier to glue the bug as well to the thicker stock paper. We chose to go with a variety of colors – you can always just do white if you want the red heart to come through.
Glue Dots (found at Office Depot for $2.49) that are basically removable glue dots like what you find if you get a new bank or credit card in the mail that attaches the card to the paper. Perfect for this craft!
A selection of bugs. We found a great deal at Party City that offered 48 bugs for $9.99. We also chose to get some butterflies for the girls which added to the cost but not by much.
That’s it! We cut out all the jars, my daughter wrote her name on the front and the name of her classmates on the back. We had fun choosing which bug fit each of her classmates personalities. We plan to bring a bug chart to the classroom party we happen to have so the kids can see what bugs they have in case they aren’t sure. The craft took us about 1/2 hour total. Have fun!
