Disney Brave Storybook App Review and Giveaway

Disney’s Brave movie received an Academy Award for “Best Animated Film” last week.  I had a chance to review Disney Publishing’s two Brave apps, “Brave: Storybook Deluxe” and “Brave Interactive Comic,” (both rated 4 stars on iTunes!) that features the original characters, storyline, and new activities for kids.

 Brave: Storybook Deluxe

The Brave: Storybook Delux app for the iPhone or iPad contains a complete retelling of the film for children ages 5 and up, following Merida through a courageous voyage to defy an age-old tradition and forge her own destiny. The app features beautiful art, character voices, dynamic animation, and surprising interactive elements.  My daughter and I had a blast playing the different games they offered such as trying to hit the targets on the tree’s while riding the horse.  There are several games offered such as painting Angus, Merida’s horse and trying to locate different arrows throughout the story.

Brave Interactive Comic

The Brave Interactive Comic app is a more advanced interactive graphic novel for kids ages 7 to 12 that turns this retelling into an enriched animated comic with special effects, enticing music and sounds, as well as clips, sketches, and step-by-step drawing lessons.   This is a great app for your older children.  The app opens up and you have the option to start the story or learn how to draw.  The story is fun as it slides across the screen – scene by scene.  You are told that if you see a gold pot to touch it and it gives you a surprise.  The surprise are illustrations from that scene.  Perfect for any comic-book  loving kid (or parent). We really enjoyed learning how to draw.  We can learn how to draw Merida, Elinor the bear, the triplets (as bears) and Mor’Du the bad bear in the story.

We really enjoyed both apps as they are filled with lots of interaction and animation.  If you are fans of the movie you will love the apps that enhance the Brave experience!
