Instagram of the Week: Paving Your Own Path

In this time of having the ability to always be “on” and “connected” via iPhone, iPad or computer,  it can be tough to decompress and slow down!  Part of taking care of others involves the important step of taking care of oneself and knowing when it is time to relax and reboot.  Last weekend we enjoyed our time together as a family but I made sure to take a little time out for myself and took a walk along the beach alone. There is something about the ocean that is just so soothing!

I took several pictures and one of my favorites is of the little guy you see above walking along the shoreline.  He reminded me of a book I read years ago in college called Jonathan Livingston Seagull – a story by Richard Bach.  Among other things, the story is about a seagull who does his own thing and pushes himself to his limits.  It is a story about paving your own path and not going with the status quo.

So this weekend, make sure to take time out for yourself – even if it is a quick walk around the block (weather permitting) or lunch with a good friend and remember to celebrate what it is that makes you come alive and like Jonathan Livingston Seagull – break new ground and go after what it is that you love and enjoy!
