Disney’s Minnie and Daisy Magazine and Book Review & Giveaway
History of Minnie Mouse and Daisy:
Minnie Mouse was created by Ub Iwerks and Walt Disney. The comic strip story “The Gleam” (published January 19-May 2, 1942) by Merrill De Maris and Floyd Gottfredson first gave her full name as “Minerva Mouse.” Minnie has since been a recurring alias for her. Both Minnie and Mickey were first drawn in 1928 by Ub Iwerks. Before Iwerks moved on to Universal Studios he created Minnie as a companion to Mickey Mouse and designed Minnie to fit in with the style of the times which was more of a flapper style. Over the years, we have seen a change in the original Minnie – who had originally worn a hat. One of the aspects that I like about Minnie is that she is known to show and express what she is thinking – she is not shy!
Daisy Duck was created in 1940 by Walt Disney Productions as the girlfriend of Donald Duck. Daisy is adorable with her large eyelashes and ruffled tail feathers to suggest a skirt. She is often seen wearing a hair bow, blouse, and shoes. And she is great pals with Minnie! (Source: Wikipedia.com).
Disney Releases Minnie and Daisy: Best Friends Forever
Recently, Disney released a new book and magazine featuring our favorite Disney girls – Minnie and Daisy. I really like that they showcase them being great friends and supporting one-another! These important role models are important to showcase with our impressionable little girls as they embark on new friendships on the playground and in school Here is an excerpt from Disney’s site:
Have you ever wondered what Minnie and Daisy’s lives were like before Mickey and Donald? Minnie and Daisy were friends long before they met their dashing duck and magical mouse, and they went through all the trials and tribulations of growing up just like all girls do.
Now, Minnie and Daisy have their very own magazine and four chapter books that are the perfect read for tween girls who embrace school, sports, fashion, and growing up:
Minnie & Daisy B.F.F. Magazine:
In Minnie & Daisy B.F.F. Magazine, girls will read about the power of friendship, take quizzes, do fun crafts, learn about caring for pets, read about fashion and their favorite music, and play games with their best gal pals. Surprise posters and comics are included, too! The magazine hits newsstands today at all major retail outlets nationwide for $4.99.
Minnie & Daisy B.F.F. Chapter Book Series:
Even more fun is available through the Minnie & Daisy B.F.F. chapter book series! Two new books include “The Pesky Pet,” “Much Ado About Juliet,” “Dance Jitters,” with two additional books coming out in July.” Tween girls can read along as Minnie and Daisy get themselves in, and out, of some typical teenage situations. These titles are available for $6.99 wherever books and eBooks are sold.
Our pals at Disney have provided us with two books and the latest issue of the magazine to hand out! Good luck dandelion moms!
PLUS! Our friends at The Day I Became a Pirate, MacCheeky: A Royal Pest!, and Fuzzy Bee’s are each donating a $25 Gift Card for a total of $75 worth of gift cards to hand out!
