Play :: 12 Great Summer Activities

If you’re lucky enough to live where the weather’s warming up then you’ll soon have long hot summer days stretching out in front of you. Summer holidays are so much fun but it’s easy to run out of ideas for things to do. For those times when you need some inspiration, here are 12 great warm weather activities to keep you and your family busy this summer.

12 Great Summer Activities:

  • When you feel like something sweet and cold to eat, try frozen fruit. Orange segments and frozen grapes make awesome snacks.
  • For a great outdoors activity you can spread out over a number of days or weeks, try setting aside a small area in the garden to be your child’s very own spot. Go to the nursery and let your child choose which plants, flowers or herbs they want to grow. Each day your child can water and take care of their garden. You can also do this with pots on a balcony.

Eiscafé Venezia, Lenggries, Eis, Ice Cream Parlour, Joghurtbecher, Eisdiele

  • Beat the heat with a trip to an ice-cream or gelato shop.
  • Pack a picnic and go for a walk in the botanical gardens. Don’t forget the picnic rug and bread to feed the ducks!
  • If you’re feeling adventurous take a train ride somewhere new. Or if you live near the sea go for a ferry ride. Being out on the open water is such a thrill. And if you give your child a small, inexpensive camera they can be busy taking happy snaps.
  • When was the last time you played mini-golf? This is such a fun activity for kids and adults and you’re bound to spend a whole morning or afternoon laughing your way around the course.
  • Go to a museum or art gallery and be amazed by their latest exhibits.
  • Go to the movies and enjoy a summer blockbuster and some air-conditioned comfort.
  • Have a crazy bubble blowing competition at home. Did you know you can blow miniature bubbles using drinking straws?
  • When it’s too hot to be outside you could visit your local library. Not only do libraries have a wonderful selection of books to borrow, they also have fun activities, visiting speakers, and learning programs as well.

  • Go to the zoo and enjoy a whole day spent with exotic and unusual animals. Pat the giraffes, marvel at the monkeys, maybe even get up close to a polar bear.
  • Go to the beach and collect seashells, build sandcastles, frolic in the waves, and feel the bliss as your toes sink in to the sand.

Enjoy your summer everyone!
