Culture :: Celebrating Independence Day
While travelling after college in Southeast Asia, I had my first real experience with foreigners who were not USA fans – to say the least. We would sit at dinner at the local hot spot in Bangkok, Thailand and they would tell me all the reasons why America was not as great a country as I was raised to believe. I was young(er) and impressionable, but even then, I didn’t stray far from my love of this country. Yes, of course, our nation has made mistakes, or done things we don’t all agree upon – but overall we live in one of the greatest countries in the world. I am proud to be an American and am looking forward to celebrating our birthday today with a day in the sun, barbecue, and later a concert in the park with good friends.
Here are some fun facts about 4th of July I thought you would find interesting! Love how many hot dogs are eaten today! Wow!
How are you planning on celebrating today?
