What’s Hot in Southern California :: Rolling Greens Nursery
The Beauty of the Succulent:
Many of you might know that I absolutely love succulents. I love how easy they are to take care of and how they fit perfectly with a modern décor. Oh, and did I mention they are so easy to care for? One year, I gave my black-thumb girlfriend a pot filled with beautiful succulents for her birthday and she still has them. She who has proclaimed to have not an ounce of a green thumb! I came across Rolling Greens nursery while looking at the SoCo Facebook page and saw they offers classes for adults and kids! I know firsthand how much kids love to get their hands dirty and this makes for the perfect activity for them!
Learn + Play Workshops:
They offer a Learn + Play workshops for the kids where they can paint a pot with chalkboard paint and plant some succulents. There is a class coming up on the 24th which is tomorrow so check to see if they have any availability! To read more about what classes they offer for kids just go here.
Private Events:
They also offer Private Events where you can learn how to make Succulent Arrangements, Terrariums, Fresh Cut Floral Bouquets and they even offer Candle Making. I have always wanted to learn how to make a beautiful bouquet of flowers and even how to arrange them in a vase. While living in Japan, the art form of flower arranging was taken quite seriously and I grew an appreciation to the detail they took in placing each stem and flower. This would be a fun activity to do with some girlfriends and a skill you can use your entire life. To see what they are offering for adults go here.
Makes the Perfect Gift:
A pot filled with succulents, moss and rocks really makes a wonderful gift! Sometimes on my hunts at garage and estate sales, I will look for unusual or gorgeous pots that can be used to make a succulent-filled present for a friend or family member. The cost to put it together really comes down to the succulents, a few rocks and some moss. You can even add little pieces of furniture or miniatures. One time, my daughter and I made one with a river of blue rocks, a metal bridge going over the river and little fairy people hanging around the edge of the water. It was quite quaint and you felt as if you were looking into another world of fairies. Children are great at adding their own twists to these planters and it will be quite fun to see what they come up with. So next time you are in need of the perfect gift for a friend or family member who is tough to shop for – think about putting together a nice arrangement for them to enjoy all year round.
