Timeless Fashion Essentials

The iconic and classy actress Audrey Hepburn used to say, “the beauty of a woman is not in the clothes she wears, the figure that she carries, or the way she combs her hair. The beauty of a woman is seen in her eyes, because that is the doorway to her heart, the place where love resides. True beauty in a woman is reflected in her soul. It’s the caring that she lovingly gives, the passion that she shows and the beauty of a woman only grows with passing years.” It is true that healthy and glowing physique is key to feeling and looking great – but I know I feel best if I am wearing something that is flattering (and comfortable).

Investing in quality clothes can be wise but it is important you know your what you need when buying certain types of clothes. This does not necessarily mean you need to purchase the most expensive shoes, handbags and dresses—it means you need to be wise in how you fit stylish clothes into your budget.  I am always a sucker for the classics because you can wear them for years!  I still have some classic shoes and coats I purchased over 10 years ago that won’t ever go out of style.  To help you with picking some fashion essentials, we listed a few basic ideas in donning a simple yet classy look which you can wear almost every day without overdoing it.

Gap-white-T

White shirt

Wearing a white shirt automatically gives light to your complexion. You can basically match it with sparkling accessories or top it with a vintage blazer. For a better fit, tuck your Marks and Spencer shirt in your jeans or skirt. To avoid unattractive creases or to give emphasis to your figure, find a body-fitting shirt.

Jeans

Take time to choose and fit which style would flatter your legs and body. Try to fit a few different cut pairs of jeans: flare, slim, boot cut, straight, etc. Take note of which style fits you the best. Knowing what cut looks best on you will give you an idea which style to buy the next time you visit your favorite clothing store.

Accessories

There is a wide array of styles which you can wear everyday. Remember to stay classy, and avoid wearing too many accessories. There are a lot of fashion websites such as Pinterest which you can refer if you are having difficulties figuring out which accessory to match with your outfit.

Shoes

Who doesn’t love shoes? Rule of thumb, a pair of simple and solid-colored high heeled shoes never goes out of style.  Last week I purchased some black patent leather heels for a wedding I attended over the weekend.  I know I can use them for years to come as patent leather is usually always in style. Even ballerina shoes and sneakers can give you a vintage look if paired with floral jeans and a pale pink shirt.

Remember to invest in those pieces you really love such as coats, shoes, bags, nice slacks and shirts that can be worn for years.  It is  fun to occasionally purchase some trendy items that go with your classics to stay with the trends but look for sales online and in stores to grab some fun additions to your wardrobe.  The classics will always be stylish and can be worn for years to come.
