Trend Setting Styles For Summer Living

Summer means the opportunity to spend a lot more time enjoying our outdoor living space and garden areas. Since many of us spend so much time outdoors during this season, it’s worth investing in a little functional yet stylish garden and patio décor. Today’s trends in outdoor living spaces demonstrate some very fresh, unique and user-friendly ideas that are quite accessible for the average home owner or renter. These trends encompass all types of spaces large or small.

Fashionable Patio Furniture and Accessories:

For instance, adding a few fashionable pieces of patio furniture is a quick and easy way to bring both style and function to your backyard. Today’s collections are guaranteed to suit any taste and by offering virtually limitless décor possibilities. Pieces can be found in metals, in high quality wood such as teak and in beautifully woven designs. There are also accessories such as umbrellas, pillows, lighting, linens, tableware and decorative items designed to withstand the elements. A current and significant trend is simply changing out different fabric colors and accessories in order to change the overall look and feel of a space.

Fire Features:

Fire Pits and fire features are a another trend indicative of the fact that more people are now choosing to spend more time at home rather than going out. A fire pit can be purchased or made as a DIY project and it can be made portable to suit any design change needs. Fire pits are perfect for a gathering with friends and family in a relaxed and easy atmosphere.

Outdoor Kitchen Areas and Grills:

Along the same lines, more families are adding outdoor kitchen areas and quality grills to their patio space. As more people choose to actually entertain at home and enjoy their own space, they’re creating outdoor living areas that are geared more for recreation. The current economy leaves many people wanting to use their own backyards much more in the summer while bringing their inside living to the outdoors.

As people spend more time in their backyards, they also want more privacy and security. Fencing, gazebos and arches are being crafted in unique designs that provide both privacy and appeal. Simple wooden slating can be covered with weather-resistant fabric or grown over with a fast-growing flowering vine or a grape variety. The “living wall” is also a trend that nods towards sustainability. This vertical garden trend uses plants and succulents that are nestled into soil placed inside DIY wooden boxes and then installed onto a vertical space. The result is a remarkable design element and an attractive conversation piece.

Gardens:

Another trend in outdoor summer living is the desire for a space that’s both easy to care for and sustainable. More people are choosing design elements that are practical yet attractive, such as raised bed gardens that are adored as much for their beauty as for their usefulness. These gardens can include herbs, vegetables, fruit trees and grapevines.

There’s a pursuit of simplicity mixed with a splendor that gives comfort while delighting both the eyes and the nose. More native plants are being incorporated into patio and backyard designs than ever before. People are enjoying their visual appeal, ease of care and their sustainability.

Today’s outdoor living trends blend form and function as well as beauty and practicality. As more people spend more time at home, the patio and the backyard have now become an extension of that home. There are endless possible ways to use patio furniture, accessories, features and plants to create an outdoor living space that is effortless, comforting and highly stylish.
