Fashion :: Transpire Summer Dresses into Fall Outfits

Many of you know by now about my obsession with coats (and did I mention boots?).  Unfortunately the weather here in southern California is anything but wintery!  So I have been wearing my summer dresses and turning them into early fall outfits.  Lately, I have been really enjoying wearing dresses for several reasons.  1) they are easy to wear 2) you look pulled together (even if you don’t feel like it) and 3) if you pair it with some boots and a light sweater they can be worn into early fall.  I have found some wonderful lightweight dresses at our local resale boutique for next to nothing and plan to add the new boots I got there as well.  Here are some great ideas to turn your summer dresses into an outfit you can wear now – temperatures permitting of course!  Enjoy!

Looking Good:

Love this outfit!  And most of us have a basic black dress we can add a fun scarf to add a little something something.  Leopard prints are back in a big way this fall so why not grab one next time you are in Marshalls or Macy’s (both are great places to find discounted items).  Plus the brown boots and cute purse really add to this already stylish outfit.  To read more go to Women Fashion Galaxy.

Take a Summer Dress into Fall:

I have been making an effort lately to add more color to my wardrobe.  You have to know that I went years only wearing black, white and gray – with a strong emphasis on black!  But I am happy to report I am out of that stage and looking to add more color to my life!  I love this navy print dress as it reads summer – but if you add a cardigan and some boots you can easily wear it into early fall! And I am so happy to see the long boyfriend cardigans are back!   Image courtesy of Indulgy.

What a Stylish Mom!

That’s what people will think if you show up in this outfit!  Love this whole outfit! And want to get this black purse as I love purses you can wear across your body or hold it in your hands.  When you have kids, cross body purses are ideal! I just recently purchased a jean jacket since it allows you to take your dresses into fall quite easily.  I talked to the girls at Crossroads Trading about whether jean jackets are too young and they were saying they are timeless really.  And I agree!  Find a nice fitting jean jacket and viola – add some boots and you are set for fall!  Image courtesy of Indulgy.

Stripes are BIG this fall season:

Love how great these brown boots look with the black and white striped dress.  What a great color combination!  Many of us have a stripped dress in our closet from the summertime and if you don’t this would be a great staple to add to your wardrobe as you can wear it all through early fall and then again come springtime.  The blogger mentioned that this dress is from The Gap.  And that scarf is just too cool!  Again, I would not have thought to put that color with the black and white dress but I absolutely love this idea!  Image courtesy of Indulgy.

 Summer Colors in the Fall:

This is why I like to look at Pinterst and Indulgy for wardrobe ideas.  I would not have thought to put turquoise and orange together but this looks amazing.  And throw on that jean jacket you just got and you are set to go! Image found at Mommies with Style.

Cowboy Boots are always in style:

I have been thinking of getting some cowboy boots for fall.  First off, they are so comfortable and the heel is doable for a busy mom!  Sometimes I see these women walking around with 3 to 4 inch boots and I wonder how in the world they do it!  I love the color burgundy and love how earthy this whole outfit looks – yet stylish.  Image was found at Steffie Staffie who provides a ton of outfit ideas!

Have fun playing around with your wardrobe.  Now that you have some outfit ideas – pull out your cardigans and see what might work with your favorite summer dresses – you just might find it works quite well together!
