Dwell :: DIY Decor Ideas for Thanksgiving
Thanksgiving is going to be here before you know it! It seems like every year my daughter and I have so much fun decorating for Halloween and Christmas that Thanksgiving doesn’t get its due course. It is such a wonderful holiday because it is all about being with friends and family, eating to your hearts content and giving thanks for all that you have in your life. I spent too much time this morning checking out all the wonderful ideas on Pinterest (funny how that happens) and found some really great ideas that you can incorporate into your Thanksgiving holiday. Anything from how to decorate the table, DIY centerpieces, an adorable Happy Thanksgiving garland and some really cool Thankful Tree’s. Enjoy your holiday season and remember to slow down, breathe, and enjoy this time with your loved ones. Oh! And don’t forget to take that second serving of pie…
A Modern Take on Thanksgiving:
Love this idea from Paperblog. You can take your pumpkins you used for Halloween and just paint them white to give your table setting a more modern look. And what a great idea to mix in some pretty white or cream vases you might have! I mentioned this before in another post about saving money over the holidays – but check your local Marshall’s or TJ Maxx for tablecloths and runners – they usually have a great selection from high-end departments stores at a fraction of the cost! Use What You Already Have:
What a great idea to incorporate green apples as the main centerpiece! The table setting is just so colorful! You can place gourds, pumpkins – large and small – around the apples as well. You can find these wood tealight centerpieces at most décor places and check your local discounted stores as well. To read more go to Quaker Rose.com.
Make Your Own Thanksgiving Garland:
Love this idea from Twinkle and Twine! She gives a great tutorial on how to make this garland that you can drape across your fireplace mantel. She also recommends doing this for a Happy Birthday banner that you can use for years to come! Made out of felt material this cute garland will stand the test of time. A “Giving Thanks” Branch/Art Piece:
What a fantastic idea from Titanium White blog. She said she was inspired to create this after seeing a traveling art show. Just find a great looking branch on your next nature walk and add these “Thankful” tags. Have everyone in the family write down things they are thankful for the day/week/month/year and tie it up on this gorgeous piece of art work. To read more go to Titanium White.
Colorful Centerpiece:
This DIY centerpiece is about as easy as they come! So colorful and I just love the baby pumpkins, gourds and squash they used! To read more go to Quaker Rose.
A Unique Thanksgiving Centerpiece:
This is such a fun idea I think we just might have to try it out this year! The My Fabulous Life blogger provides a step-by-step tutorial on how to make this sparkely and unique Thanksgiving centerpiece. I love that she uses polka dot paper straws! To read how to make this go to Whipperberry.
Giving Thanks:
This DIY idea also comes from My Fabulous Life over at Whipperberry and would be easy to do as well. This might be fun to have ready to go on Thanksgiving day and your guests can write down what they are thankful for and glue it to the paper straw – and you have your centerpiece! To read more go to Whipperberry.
A Simple But Gorgeous Centerpiece:
This just might be my favorite centerpiece of all the ones I checked out on Pinterest! Absolutely love that they used green beans, artichokes and asparagus and tied them around a white candle. What a unique and beautiful idea! To read more go to Paperblog.
We would love to hear how you plan to celebrate Thanksgiving!
