What’s Hot in Southern California :: Knott’s Merry Farm
We are excited to attend Knott’s Merry Farm next month and see all the wonderful holiday events they have planned! If you haven’t had a chance to check out Knott’s Berry Farm recently, you really check it out as the park has something for everyone in the family! Camp Snoopy is geared more towards children ages 3 to 11 years of age and they have a ton planned for the holidays including “It’s Christmas Snoopy” show at the Charles M. Schulz Theatre. Plus you can visit Santa at Santa’s Christmas Cabin where you can take pictures with Santa and enjoy the Sundae Bar and parents can enjoy the Wine and Craft Bear tasting!
A Short History of Knott’s Berry Farm:
If you grew up in Southern California, you have probably visited Knott’s Berry Farm as a kid! It is part of our cultural makeup just as much as Anaheim Disneyland is. One of the things I love about Knott’s is the history behind the park. Knott’s Berry Farm sits on 160 acres in Buena Park, California and had over 3.65 million visitors in 2011. The park sits on the site of a former berry farm that was established by Walter Knott and his family. Started in 1920, the Knott family sold berries, berry preserves and pies along State Route 39 road. Mrs. Knott’s started selling fried chicken dinners in a tea room which later became “Mrs. Knott’s Chicken Dinner Restaurant.” (Source: Wikipedia). Knott’s is famous for their fried chicken, pies and berry preserves and the restaurant is always packed!
Camp Snoopy:
Camp Snoopy is targeted towards younger visitors, with many of the rides and attractions being built specifically for children. Its theme is Charles M. Schulz‘ “Peanuts” comic strip characters. Snoopy has been the mascot of Knott’s Berry Farm since 1983. They have added more rides in Camp Snoopy that include 14 rides include a mini roller coaster called the Timberline Twister, a mini-scrambler called the Log Peeler, a Zamperla Rockin’ Tug called Lucy’s Tugboat, and a steel spinning roller coaster called Sierra Sidewinder. (Source: Wikipedia). We really had a blast at Camp Spooky in October and look forward to seeing what Knott’s Merry Farm is all about! We are planning to check out SNOOPY’S TREE LIGHTING in the Calico Square during our visit as well. Here are some of the events planned over the next two months:
