Garden :: Holiday Decorating Ideas

This year we are still decorating our front yard and came across some really fun ideas.  I absolutely love the vintage TV idea that the blogger at  7th House on the Left came up with and adore this one right below because it is so colorful and easy to reproduce.  Why not keep decorating with some fun ideas!  We do have two more weeks!

Make Your Outside as Pretty as Your Inside:

What some great ideas the blogger over at The Relaxed Home has to make your front doorstep look as festive as the inside of the house.  And it won’t cost too much to try out these ideas.  You can probably pick up some pinecones in your neighborhood and gather some wood from your local hardware store.  And love these bright red chairs that you can paint for next to nothing and use throughout the year.  I see these type of chairs at garage and estate sales all the time. To get some more ideas go to The Relaxed Home.

Decorate everywhere!

Love this idea from Creating Really Awesome Free Things (and a great name for a blog btw).  She recommends these easy to find clips that will allow you to hang the lights on the garage.  To read how to make your own holiday tree go to Creating Really Awesome Free Things.

Think Outside the Box:

The blogger over at 7th House on the Left came up with a rather fun idea!  They built this vintage style TV and used some props from Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer!  I actually just purchased this old school movie at the grocery  store yesterday as I couldn’t find our copy in the house.  Love this movie and adore this idea!  To read how to make your own go to 7th House on the Left.

Simple Décor:

I am always a sucker for simple and clean lines and this really struck me.   You can use a simple felt stocking and fill it with some greenery, branches and berries and hang it off the front door or do a stack of them and put on your garage door.  Fun idea found at Vibekedesign.

Use what you have around the house:

You just might have an old wagon hanging around that you can use this holiday season.  Just add some greenery, some red berries, pinecones and you are set.  I like how this blogger used a lantern as well so at night you can see the decoration.  They sell LED lanterns at department and housewares stores.  To read more go to Houzz.com.

 Add some color:

This is a rather festive and colorful idea!  This blogger snapped a picture of this decoration last year.  It looks like they just used foam balls and had the kids color them.  This is a super easy craft to do and I really like how it looks on the branch.  Image found via Pinterest.

DIY Snowy Mason Jar:

This is a great idea found at Deco Art.  This would make a great addition to your inside décor as well as a great gift! To read how to make your own Snowy Mason Jar go to Deco Art.

More Gift Ideas:

I loved this little tree in the glass ornament.  People are just so creative!  I am sure you can find these glass bulbs at any craft store.  Just add some greenery and viola – this you can hang on the tree, put on your countertops for a unique décor idea or even gift them.  Image found at Pinterest.

Add some greenery to your tabletop:

This is a great idea and can be used as a tabletop centerpiece!  Just remove the top of the Christmas ornament, and insert flowers.  To keep it steady, just glue the of the ornament to a CD, shiny side up.  Image found on Pinterest.

DIY Christmas Ornament Idea:

When I saw this décor idea I just thought it was the sweetest idea!  Love how they are using a live mini tree inside the glass ornament with some dirt.  The string keeps it centered and can be found at any hardware or craft store.  To read more go to Gimmie Some Style Blog.

These are some pretty solid decoration ideas. One of my favorite that I like to use is to use the decorative garden stakes I have as different things, like snowman arms. I think it’s a pretty creative way to use what I’ve got.
