Recipes :: Fun and Fabulous Holiday Appetizers
This year, we are planning on making another turkey for Christmas, but since it will just be my husband, daughter and I eating the meal, I might opt to just bake a turkey breast and throw in some yummy appetizers. There are some really delicious and easy recipes that you can make for your holiday meal or set out as an appetizer. Whether you are hosting or going to a family members house they will surely be a hit! I absolutely love artichoke hearts, so the first recipe had me at artichoke… enjoy making some new recipes that just might become a regular item in your recipe carousal!
Artichoke Prosciutto Dip:
This dish looked too delicious to pass up! You probably wouldn’t want to eat too much before your main meal as it is high in fat which fills you up pretty quickly! But then again, it is the holidays and overindulging can be good to do sometimes – if not for the waistline, at least for the mind! This does look amazing and would surely be a hit with some simple crackers or a loaf of bread. To read more go to Gastronomical Sovereignty.
Lemon Parsley Marinated Olives:
This is another great food to include in your diet – olives are high in the good fats which your body (and brain) need! This makes for a gorgeous (and healthy) appetizer for the olive-loving members in your family. To read more go to Ideas Evite.
Healthy Appetizer:
Bruschetta is always a hit at parties – any time of year! Love how they use whole grain bread to serve this healthy treat! To read more about how to make this recipe go to Fit Sugar.
Gluten-free brie, fig and rosemary appetizers:
I am a sucker for anything fig-related! As a kid, I couldn’t get enough of those Fig Newton treats! Unfortunately, they just don’t taste the same now as an adult but I still really enjoy figs. This fig appetizer looks wonderful and is gluten-free for those avoiding gluten. To read more go to She Knows.
Cranberry Pistachio Baked Brie:
Yummy! This recipe is what gave me the idea to post about yummy holiday appetizers. Love all the holiday colors used in this recipe. And what’s not to like about warm brie cheese? To read more go to Gimmie Some Oven.
For the Kids:
Yummy Christmas Trees:
Love this recipe from Party Blueprints that uses simple items to make this tasty and healthy treat for the kids. To read more go to Party Blueprints.
Vegetable Christmas Tree:
This is a great way to get the kids (and adults) to eat more vegetables! I know if I provide a yummy ranch dip, my daughter is more likely to eat her carrots and broccoli. To read more to Party Blueprints.
Penguin Party Poppers:
This might just take the award for cuteness! These look adorable and they are made out of healthy food such as olives and cream cheese (fats are good for the kids too!). To read how to make your own Penguin Poppers go to Cheryl Style.
Ho Ho Ho! Santa Clause is coming to town:
These Santa Claus crackers from Martha Stewart are too fun! Looks like they use pepperoni for the hats, celery pieces and some type of creamy cheese for the beard. To read more how to make your own Santa’s go to Martha Stewart.
A Colorful Fruit Tree:
This is another clever way to get everyone to eat more fruit! They used an apple that they cored, stuck a carrot in it and added some toothpicks that allow the fruit to stay in place. This might make for a fun activity to add to your holiday baking and cooking time with the kids – though no baking needed! Image found on Pinterest.
