What’s Hot in Southern California :: New Year’s Eve Family Events

Are you looking to do something fun with the family to help celebrate the new year together?  Me too!  I went searching to find some fun things to do in Orange County that are geared towards a family celebration.  There are some pretty cool events happening around town that you can do during the daytime with the family.  Have a safe and fun New Year’s Eve celebration!

The Discovery Science Center:

My daughter is a huge fan of The Discovery Science Center and goes at least once a month with grandma.  That is their place to go to and I love that she is learning about science with all of the interesting events held throughout the year.  If you are looking to do something fun to celebrate the new year with the kids – they are hosting their Noon Year’s Eve party again this year and have extended it to two days.  Kids come dressed as their favorite superhero on either December 30th or 31st and at noon celebrate the new year with a ginger-ale toast and a balloon drop.  Some other things they will offer include:

  • Celebrate with a balloon drop and ginger ale toast at noon & 2pm
  • Take fun photos in front of a real green-screen
  • Create and experience sound effects on a Foley stage
  • Join our dance party to celebrate the New Year
  • Hats & horns to take home

Family New Year’s Eve at the Great Park:

Celebrate the new year at the Great Park, located in Irvine.  Their family-friendly New Year’s Eve party features live music, dancing, great food, carousel rides, games and activities for the kids – all in a fun, alcohol-free environment.  Local dance groups will perform, street entertainers will delight and everyone can boogie down as a DJ plays tunes in the Hangar 244 Lounge.  At 9 p.m. the Great Park will transform into a party atmosphere in time to ring in the New Year with a pop of streamers, party hats and noise makers.  To read more about this event go to: https://www.ocgp.org/great-night/
