Fashion :: Golden Globes 2014

Award season is upon us and it is a big deal in my house…for me. It is what football is to my husband. The Golden Globes are like the playoffs and the the Oscars are the Super bowl. My favorite part has to be the arrival of actors on the red carpet. I think I may even prefer it more than the actual award show. I am always so excited to see what my favorite designers have put together for the actors. The dresses they are wearing are not just any dresses. Some of them have been specifically created by the designer with that person in mind. They are usually (key word usually) so beautiful and flawless.  Let’s take a walk back down that red carpet and look at some of these beauties.I am going to start with this one because it is by far my favorite. I literally gasped when I saw this dress. This is Margot Robbie (it does not hurt that she is absolutely gorgeous) and the dress is Tom Ford. It is so simple, incredibly sexy and the jewels around the waist, sides and arms give it such a gorgeous amount of sparkle.

Stunning. Amy Poehler in Stella McCartney. The small cut out at the waist is subtle but very sexy. I think this is incredibly flattering. This is a stylet that could be worn in real life!

Elizabeth Moss in J Mendel. This dress up close looked so gorgeous. I love all the beading from top to bottom and the color is so rich. I bet it was an easy dress to wear although possibly heavy with all that bead work.

I don’t think I have ever seen Naomi Watts make a mistake on the red carpet. This looks like liquid gold. This dress is by Tom Ford.

Cate Blanchett in Armani Prive. This was a favorite for a lot of fashion critics. The lace detail on this dress is incredible.

Amy Adams in Valentino.I thought this was fantastic. I am pretty sure the inspiration was from her role in American Hustle ( I love the name of that movie. It sounds so cool to me. ” oh yeah, I was in American Hustle”. I want to say that) where she wore a lot of low cut styles.

Now, I know that everyone may not love what Emma Thompson wore to the Golden Globes but I think we all loved her even more when she came to the stage holding a martini sans shoes (and then tossing them)to present the award for best screenplay. That was just perfect. I did however think this Lanvin gown looked great on her. This is something I would like to see an older woman wear. Still sexy but covered up in all the places she would want.

This is exactly what I looked like pregnant. As a matter of fact I thought somehow a picture of me got put on the TV screen! Seriously Olivia Wilde? Beyond gorgeous! Her and the gown. This dress is Gucci.

I had never seen this actress before. I could not get over how incredibly BEAUTIFUL she is. She looked absolutely stunning. Perfect. This dress is Ralph Lauren which I thought was not only beautiful but very cool.

Emma Watson in Dior. Love, love love this on her. Classy, beautiful and youthful. The blue shoe paired with it is great. This is the kind of dress I would like to see one of my daughters wear for an event one day.
