Our Disney Side Party Brought Out the Kid in All of Us!

“I received free products in order to host the Disney Side @Home Celebration. The opinions expressed here are my own.”

Our Disney Side Party was a Blast!

Last week we had our Disney Side Party at a local park with my daughter’s Daisy Troop.  We asked that everyone dress up as their favorite Disney character and we had a party filled with some great costumes!  It was so much fun that I had to share some of the pictures with you all!  Disney and Mom Select chose a couple hundred mom bloggers to work with on their Disney Side campaign which basically encourages people of all ages to tap into the big kid inside us all.  The kid inside us who gets excited walking through the gates of Disneyland or the one who screams on their favorite roller coaster!  Here my daughter and I are a few months back at the entrance about to enjoy our day at the Happiest Place on Earth!  It is debatable on who gets more excited to go to Disneyland for the day!

The  Disney-inspired Treats were a Success:

But back to the party!  My daughter and I made some Mickey Mouse oreo cookies for everyone though mine didn’t quite look as good as these here.  Not sure what I did wrong (that is why you won’t see mine here) but the kids didn’t seem to mind and they were all gone within minutes of the party.  We also made some Mickey Mouse peanut butter and jelly sandwiches with the Mickey Mouse cookie cutter they provided me and put out some healthy treats to help balance out the sweets!

Here are some more Disney-inspired recipes you can try out at your next party. I also made a fun Disney sign out of thick poster board and just used some bowls to cut out the Mickey Mouse.  It was really easy to make and was a fun sign that greeted our fellow Daisy Troop members.

Disney Games:

We played a couple games including the Guess The Disney Character.  I wrote down as many Disney characters as I could remember such as the classic Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Cinderella, and some new Princesses and characters including Merida from Brave and Mike from Monster’s Inc.  The kids had to ask each other Yes/No questions to figure out who they were.  This is a fun game to start any party.  Here are some more great games from the Disney Side Celebrations site.

RunDisney Encourages Physical Activity and Family Fun:

Next we decorated the Run Disney posters they sent us.  runDisney is a series of events that provides runners the unique opportunity to run through Disney Theme Parks at the Walt Disney World® Resort in Florida and the Disneyland® Resort in California, earn Disney-themed finisher medals, experience legendary Disney entertainment & Guest Service, and ultimately celebrate their accomplishments with a Disney vacation. To learn more about RunDisney and future events visit their site here. These posters can be used at any event to cheer on a family member or friend.  We have an upcoming school Jog-A-Thon that the kids participate in so they decorated the signs for each other.  Very sweet!

The Disney Prizes were a Hit!

And what’s a party without Prizes!  My daughter and I went to our local JoAnnes and found some cute (and inexpensive) Disney goodies such as a Princess wand and a Jake and the Neverland Pirates Activity Kit as prizes to give out.   We also handed out some of the HP Photo Card Packs Disney sent us for the moms to enjoy.  Disney sent us some Disney Trivia to ask the party goers such as “What color shoes does Mickey Mouse wear” and “Name all eleven Disney Princesses.”  This was a fun activity and the moms participated as well for a chance to win a HP Photo Card Pack that allows you to make personalized cards like these in minutes — plus calendars, collage prints, photo book pages, and much more. Just add your photos to HP Photo Creations, the creative printing app for Mac and PC. Print at home or order online.  I love how you can go to the DisneySideCelebrations.com/HP to create any type of card you want using your photos.  And I think the new Two Smiles by HP is brilliant which combines a greeting card and a gift card in one, TwoSmiles Cards are perfect for any occasion. Just choose your card, select a retailer and gift amount to purchase, and personalize your greeting. Then, print your card right from your home printer.  So the next time you are stumped on what to give your child’s teacher or a friend, just print out a card and gift card to their favorite store.

Cuteness Was Abound:

We even had a table filled with costumes and jewelry to embellish their outfits with.  Here we can see two knights in a battle and some of our princesses enjoying our sprinkled covered cupcakes we made.  There is just something about colorful sprinkles that makes me happy!

All in all, the was a fun party to prepare for and partake in.  Next time you need some ideas for an upcoming party – check out the Disney Side Celebrations website and host your own Disney-inspired party.  The moms told me that all week their kids were so excited to attend the party and we even had a couple of girls who switched their plans around because they just had to attend!  Here are our happy bugs dressed as their favorite Disney character.

Note: We were provided goodies to hand out at our Disney Side party courtesy of Disney and Mom Select and given a large American Tourister (The official luggage of Walt Disney World and Disneyland) as compensation for hosting this party. This did not affect my opinion in any way – we love all things Disney!

Looks like it was a really fun party! Speaking of the “Guess the Disney Character Game,” our family plays it pretty much non-stop every time we are on our Disney vacations and waiting for things–in line for rides, waiting for food to arrive at restaurants, etc. We take turns being the one who comes up with the character and it has gotten to be a pretty intense game in our family!

Sounds like a fun game to play at any time! The kids really had fun guessing what Disney character they were – had got stumped on the classics =) We had a Grumpy, Happy and Bashful from the Seven Dwarfs. Thanks for the visit!
