Inexpensive Ways to Update Yourself and Home for Spring

Spring, ahhh… a fresh start. There is a lighter mood to Spring. We trade in our heavy sweaters for a lighter jacket, our boots for perhaps a sandal. Even the smallest of change can make you feel good and it doesn’t have to break the bank. A little something to celebrate the new season. It can be as small as a new nail polish shade, a new lipstick or changes around your home. There are a few ways that I like to do this.

Brighten Up the Place With Flowers:

Nothing says Spring like flowers, right? I love love love flowers in my home and I have them everywhere from the bathroom to the kitchen. I especially love orchids because they last a long time and, since I do not have a green thumb whatsoever, they are perfect because they require litttle to no maintence. I like to buy my orchids at Trader Joes. They have a great sellection and their prices are the best around. I’ll buy a pretty pot and literally just place the original one in there.

Fresh blooms are always great and this time of year there are so many  flowers to choose from.Tulips are a traditional Spring time flower.  You can find many varieties and colors. I like to use different shades of pink. The glass jar next to the flowers is something else I like to change out with the seasons. Easter eggs (not real) fill it this month. Help from my daughter on that one.

Change Up Your Nail Polish:

I usually go for lighter colors on my nails  for spring and summer (or at least I try to). This is something my daughters will love since they tell me I wear black nail polish (I don’t  –  think dark burgundys). There are some really fun colors out there right now.I won’t be afraid to wear this one on both my fingers and toes which I did today (ok, I was a little afraid but I did it anyway).

I know this one may look like a bit much or too young but a very sophisticated woman (older than me, ahem) had gotten this on her nails and toes. It looked really nice! I was VERY surprised. Alas, you can never go wrong with tried and true blush colors. They always look clean and fresh. I love the name of this one; Tra-La-La.

Try Out a New Lipstick:

I think a new lipstick is always fun. When does a new lipstick not perk you up? Tom Ford has a beautiful Spring palette and the packaging is luxe.

Add Some Candles Around the House:

White pillar candles are always classic and perfect for any time of year but how about these little pretties that come with their own tray! Z Gallerie Ming candle and plate.

Outdoor Fun:

Warmer spring time weather also means being outside more and dining al fresco. Freshen up your outdoor space with a new hurricane. I love this Marrakech hurricane from Pottery Barn.
