Play :: Time to Embrace Your Inner Rock Star

As the school year draws to a close, school plays and spring musicals are just around the corner. Whether you were Sandy in your high school’s adaptation of Grease or have two left feet and sing off-key (we’re not judging!), Netflix has has some titles that will get you and your kids singing along to some popular show tunes. If you are like most people who grew up watching Grease, you probably know the words to most of the songs from the movie!  My husband and I joke around and sing songs all the time from Grease – especially that scene in the garage where the high schoolers are singing Go Grease Lighting.  Come on, you know the song and dance too!  The first time I watched Grease I fell in love with John Travolta and wanted to be Olivia Newton John!  For Halloween that is.  Only problem is that I wanted to dress like her after her make-over.  Hmmm. But I don’t think my mom went for that luckily!

There are a whole list of old-school and new movies that you can enjoy with the kids.  I plan to watch Grease this summer break with my daughter as I think she is old enough now.  Though she turns her head or says “gross” anytime someone kisses on TV.  Good thing!  Some other movies to enjoy include Shrek The Musical, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and of course Footloose!  Who can forget Kevin Bacon moving and grooving in those cute boots of his. For your younger kids you can enjoy watching Pocahontas and Mulan among the few Netflix is recommending this month.  We watched Mulan and really enjoyed this movie.  So grab some popcorn and enjoy these lists of movies and bring out your rock star!  Watch Out American Idol – here comes some new talent!
