Spotlight On :: The Movie “Moms’ Night Out” Delivers!
“I laughed, I cried, and I found myself feeling affirmed. If you’re a mom, you need to see this movie!”
~ Jill Savage, CEO Hearts at Home, Author, No More Perfect Moms
In early March I had a chance to preview Moms’ Night Out with a good friend at The Irvine Spectrum. I didn’t really know what to expect but within a few minutes of the beginning of the movie, my friend and I were laughing hysterically – and this continued on throughout the movie. Moms Night Out features four friends who decide they need to have a night out together. The plan is to get dressed up, go to a nice restaurant, and then dancing. What happens instead includes car chases, lost cell phones, tattoo parlors, motorcycle gangs and missing children and husbands. But as we follow these four friends along their outrageous night, we are reminded about the trials and tribulations of being a mom. It is hard work and sometimes our efforts seem unappreciated. That is until your child grabs your hand on the way to school (mine did this today and made my heart smile) or when you check in on them at night see them sleeping safe and sound in their bed. Those moments are what keep us moving along doing the best that we can do.
Bridget and Allyson (Abbie Cobb and Sarah Drew) find a common mom bond in a very uncommon location.
About the Film:
Here is an excerpt from the Moms’ Night Out website:
All Allyson and her friends want is a peaceful, grown-up evening of dinner and conversation . . . a long-needed moms’ night out. But in order to enjoy high heels, adult conversation and food not served in a paper bag, they need their husbands to watch the kids for three hours—what could go wrong? MOMS’ NIGHT OUT is an endearing true-to-life family comedy that celebrates the beautiful mess called parenting.
Coming to theaters on May 9, get ready to see YOUR life on the big screen. But don’t worry … it’s a comedy! Meet the stars of MOMS’ NIGHT OUT!
MOMS’ NIGHT OUT is directed by The Erwin Brothers and produced by Kevin Downes, Jon Erwin, Andrew Erwin, and Daryl Lefever. Executive producers are Patricia Heaton and David Hunt. The cast includes Sarah Drew, Sean Austin, Patricia Heaton and Trace Adkins. At the screening we were treated to seeing and hearing Sarah Drew speak about how this movie made her appreciate even more the hard job mothering can be! She did a really great job in the movie and I loved that she plays a mom blogger – with like 15 followers (two of which unfollowed her overnight). As the theater was filled with mom bloggers we all got a good laugh out of this.
What we liked about the movie:
Motherhood is one of those things you can’t really describe until you become a mom. I know that I was surprised at how hard it is and that no-one really talks about this aspect of motherhood. The sleepless nights almost did me in those first six months! I think it is because it is just one of those journey’s in life that is different – yet the same – for many moms and it is difficult to put this amazing experience into words – the good, the great and the challenges! My friend and I like that the movie portrays the difficulties that come with being a mother – but also the endless amount of joy our children bring to us. There isn’t anything quite like raising children – with all the hiccups that come along with this major task of raising a little person – the whole while doubting yourself and hoping that you are doing a good job. This movie supports mothers and shows through funny situations and conversations the things in life that that come along with raising kids.
Some of our favorite scenes include when the dads somehow get themselves into a predicament while babysitting the kids…
Watching a few kids for a couple of hours—what could go wrong?
Or this one of the guy at the tattoo parlor. He was hysterical and stole every scene he was in!
How does a tattoo parlor desk guy (Manwell Reyes) fit into a moms’ night out?
And I promise that you will be in love with Bones by the end of the movie!
Bones (Trace Adkins) is one dude you don’t want to meet in a dark alley.
How many of you have come into a room to find this happening?
Bailey is quite proud of her art

Here are what people are saying about Moms’ Night Out:
“Moms’ Night Out definitely goes down as one of the top three comedies I have ever seen. The night we attended Moms’ Night Out, the theater was filled with women and men who literally convulsed in laughter throughout the movie. Moms’ Night Out had me laughing so hard I embarrassed my wife. I watched a child of about seven wipe tears of laughter from his eyes. That’s good comedy!”
~Ken Davis, Speaker and Author
“Motherhood might just be the highest calling on the planet. Moms, that’s why it’s important for you to take some time for yourselves to be celebrated. Grab your husbands, grab your friends, and go see Moms’ Night Out, a family comedy you are going to love!”
~Dave Ramsey
