The Amazon Kindle Fire HDX Tablet Makes a Perfect Gift

Amazon recently released the Kindle Fire HDX 7.0 and 8.9 Tablets and we had a chance to review the new 8.9 tablet and I must say it was love at first sight.  There are so many new features on their latest device that really makes it one powerhouse tablet!  One of my favorite new additions is the front-facing HD camera.  Now I can use it at conferences or when I am out-and-about – I can take pictures or videos and use them in posts or share with friends and family.  For Mother’s Day, my husband promised a keyboard so that I can use it in place of my (rather large) computer at this month’s PBS Kids conference.  Here is a picture of a painting one of my favorites artists (Jennifer Mercede) painted for my daughter that now sits on our fireplace.  The colors are very clear and you can share the images and videos you take via email, Twitter and Facebook. And if you want to edit the photographs it allows you to fix red-eyes, change color balance, crop the image, apply filters to photos and decorate images with a fun selection of stickers using the Amazon’s Cloud Drive Gallery.  Plus you can stay in touch with friends and family using the HD camera!  You see why I fell in love instantly with this versatile tablet.

The Amazon Kindlefire HDX delivers!

Some of the new features in the latest Kindle Fire HDX tablet includes the latest version of Fire OS and exclusive features and services like X-Ray for Music, Prime Instant Video downloads, and the new Mayday button.  I was curious to find out what this feature was as it is the first of its kind.  Basically it acts as your personal tech advisor.  Boy is this handy for folks like me.  It takes me awhile to figure out tech products and I really appreciate that with the push of a button, there is an Amazon Tech Advisor at your fingertips 24/7, 365 days a year and your call is answered in less than 15 seconds!  You can speak to your tech advisor and ask them any technical questions you might have about your new device.

Another feature I really like and I know my daughter will enjoy is the ability to watch movies and TV episodes – at the moment she is enjoying Pokémon so I bet this will be the first show she will watch! The Prime Instant Video on the new Kindle Fire family is the only U.S. subscription streaming service that enables offline viewing.  I might have to fight my husband off from my new Kindlefire HDX because of the X-Ray feature.  The dual stereo speakers include the latest Dolby Digital Plus sound and really sounds amazing!  This allows you to enjoy your favorite bands and songs from the cloud for access anytime and anywhere.  I plan to take this Kindlefire HDX to the conference next week and plan to listen music (with a headset) on the plane up.  And for the readers in your house – join over 20 million other readers with Goodreads on Kindle.  The Goodreads integration is offered only by Amazon and is exclusive to the Kindle system. Before I received a Kindlefire HD7.0 tablet last year from the crew over at Dot Complicated and Amazon, I was adamantly opposed to reading books on the Kindle.  I didn’t think the experience of reading a book would be the same.  Boy, did I eat my words!  I read the Kindle every night and even in the bathtub (just make sure you don’t drop it in the tub) and absolutely love how I can download a book at any time.  I took advantage of the Amazon Prime program that allows you to download many of the Classics for free.  I read Frankenstein, Dracula and Treasure Island – all for free!  The past few months my first grader has really improved her reading and do believe I owe some of this to the Kindle.  She downloads or borrows (yes, they offer a loan service where you can borrow a book for free) books that she is interested in.  Just now she ran over with my tablet and asked if she could download a Minecraft book that teaches one how to make traps!  Reading should be fun and with the ability to download a book at any time, the Kindle has really turned my daughter’s reading experiences into a positive activity!
