Health :: PEPCID COMPLETE Offers Relief for Heartburn

Todays post is brought to you by PEPCID

As part of the PEPCID Tastemakers campaign, I was surprised to find out so many people suffer from heartburn and indigestion!   More than 25 million adults experience heartburn daily. There have been times that I have had heartburn and it can be quite uncomfortable.  What triggers heartburn varies from person to person and some of the common culprits can include food, alcohol, caffeine, smoking, stress and weight.  I have found after eating rich foods or eating when upset (never a good thing) can cause me some discomfort.  When PEPCID sent me their new product to try out, PEPCID COMPLETE, I was surprised at how tasty the Berry flavor chewable tablets are.  I like that you only need to take one tablet and it lasts all day or all night.  My husband tends to get heartburn more often and has taken the PEPCID COMPLETE quite a bit and says he likes the flavor as well – but most importantly it works immediately to relieve the discomfort of heartburn!  In fact, the other night he said he was “ready to eat more Mexican food” after taking a tablet! Funny guy!

What IS Heartburn?

It is interesting that they call it heartburn when it really has nothing to do with your heart.  Heartburn occurs when stomach acid escapes up into your esophagus.  Your lower esophageal sphincter job is to prevent that from happening but sometimes it relaxes or doesn’t close properly.  That is when the acid escapes up into your esophagus and causes heartburn.  There are different culprits for everyone and it is important to take note of when the heartburn occurs.  Is it after you eat rich foods?  Eat when stressed or drink too much caffeine.     The PEPCID® products start working fastand offer uncompromising relief that lasts all day. With a range of products, PEPCID® works by reducing the stomach acid that causes heartburn.

The PEPCID®COMPLETE® is a dual product that combines an antacid with an Acid Reducer.  I would recommend the Berry flavor as it doesn’t have that chalky taste that many antacids have.   Good work Pepcid on creating a chewable tablet that actually tastes good and works!  They also offer PEPCID®AC® which can be taken before a meal to help prevent heartburn.  They offer this in two strengths: Original and Maximum Strength in case you need extra relief.

The difference between Antacids and the Pepcid products it that antacids (like TUMS) tend to work for only 20-30 minutes per dose and last up to 3 hours if taken on a full stomach.  the PEPCID COMPLETE product works all day so you don’t need to take the tablets every 30 minutes.  Also, proton pump inhibitors (PPIs) are not as effective either as they are not known for immediate relief (and don’t we want immediate relief?!) and can take up to 1-4 days to become fully effective.  Plus you have to take them daily in a 14-day regimen.  The PEPCID COMPLETE  can be taken as needed and you will have immediate results.  Like I mentioned, my husband gets heartburn much more than I do and is sold on this product.  The PEPCID COMPLETE is a chewable tablet and available in Mint and Berry flavors.  And adults and children over the age of 12 can use this product safely. You can find it at most mass merchandise, drug stores and grocery stores, as well as online.

I still have trouble distinguishing between heart burn/indigestion but both require similar meds. I have tried the previous Pepcid (while back) but it was so long ago I believe when it took 24 hours (and by r/x … yes, that long) I’ll definitely have to try the new one out especially the one before the meal! I don’t get it a lot but I know what foods tie into when I get it 99.8% of the time! Thanks for the great article on Pepcid! I’ll look for it this week!
