Taste of Nature Bars are a Healthy Snack for Kids and Moms

According to a recent national survey conducted by Kelton and sponsored by Taste of Nature, nearly all (98%) Americans snack, but nine in ten (85%) admit they find healthy snacking to be difficult. Americans struggle to find a balance between what tastes good and what’s good for them. Taste is the top consideration when making a snack choice (73%), which is more important than convenience (54%) or accessibility (35%). What’s more, half (50%) say that healthy snacking is so difficult because it is hard to find a healthy snack that tastes good. (Source: PR January 2014).

As a mom to a kid who has a major sweet-tooth, I am always on the look-out for healthy but tasty snacks.    The Taste of Nature bars are certified organic, gluten-free certified, non-gmo project verified snack bars with real, nuts, fruits and grains that you can see (and under 200 calories, too). Nothing artificial, no fillers and no chemicals – what you see is what you get with these bars.

As part of the Clever Girls Network, I had a chance to try the Taste of Nature snack bars that have been sold in Canada for over 25 years). I invited some friends and  hosted a pool party with them and their kids.  They were a great snack for the kids  after school and we felt good knowing they were getting a healthy treat.  It can be frustrating finding a snack the kids (at least mine) will like other than the junk food snacks.  These bars are really good!  I am a big fan now and am glad I was introduced to this healthy alternative – for the whole family.

My husband says he plans to take them in his golf bag next time he goes out golfing.  If my husband gives them a thumbs up (and he is picky) then I think you will like them too!

The kids and moms tried all of the delicious flavors: Brazilian Nut Festival, California Almond Valley, Quebec Cranberry Carnival, Canadian Maple Forest, Himalayan Goji Summit, Persian Pomegranate Garden.  There are six flavors to choose from.

I love almonds and really liked the California Almond Valley – so much so, that I couldn’t wait for the party to start and tried one out before the party started.  Yum! It was just the perfect combination of nuts, protein and sweet – but not too sweet.

My husband tried the Quebec Cranberry Carnival since he is a big cranberry fan and really liked it. And a friend tried the Canadian Maple Forest bar and said it was really god.  I can attest to that!  My two favorites were these two but I like that they have a variety of flavors.  The cost per bar is $1.99 and they are available at fine natural products stores and grocery retailers.  Click here to find out where you can find them in your area. They are available at our local Whole Foods and Mother’s Market.

Some fun statistics about snacking include:

  • On average, Americans who snack do it twice a day.
  • 42 percent of Americans feel they could commit to having one healthy snack every day.
  • 42 percent of snackers are most likely to have an unhealthy snack between 2:00 pm and 5:00 pm.
  • 41 percent of snackers are most likely to have an unhealthy snack on Saturdays.
  • 43 percent of Americans have treated themselves to an unhealthy snack as a reward for an accomplishment.
  • 23 percent have hidden their snacks from others so they wouldn’t have to share.

Next time your kids need a snack or you find yourself reaching for a pick-me-up in the middle of the day, these offer a nice snack to help get your energy levels up.  Plus you and the kids won’t have the sugar crash later like we all do with sugary snacks.  Enjoy!
