Fabulous Fall Fashion Tips for Busy Moms
Tis the season for boots, sweaters, scarves, jackets… in most parts of the country that is! We are having awfully hot weather here in southern California and at the moment we are just dreaming of wearing all this fun fall attire. But for those of you lucky enough to wear all these great layers, I went on a search to find out what are the fall trends. If you are like most moms, it can be tough to find time to read up on the latest fashion trends, but here are some easy outfit ideas to duplicate this season. I am so happy to see red this fall as I can’t seem to get enough of it at the moment. Red lipsticks, red nails, bags, sweaters – you name it – I have been obsessed with the color red! This coming from a former all-black with hints of grays and whites thrown in girl. I think red looks great on just about anyone – so next time you want a pop of color – look for the ever-vibrant red! And do try to surprise yourself this season and try out some of the new fall colors – you could start slowly and purchase a scarf or two in a color you don’t normally wear. Have fun with it dandelion moms!
Go Green:
Go green is not only for your home! I love this outfit for many reasons – the boots look really comfortable and doable when running after kids all day. And I love the combination of gray and greens together. Emerald green is also really big this season so check at your local department or online stores for a pretty emerald green sweater or top. This is another great color that looks fantastic on just about any ethnicity. Image courtesy of Teen Nick.
Go Blue:
Blues are big this season as well – cobalt blues and cool mint are big. I love this outfit because it is just so easy to put together – and you will look put together. About two seasons ago I purchased some Lucky riding boots at our local resale boutique (brand new) for a dime. Make sure to look around online and at your local resale boutiques for a steal as this style of boot seems to be in-style the past few fall and winter seasons! And the blanket sweaters are in this season as well. Love this Burberry-inspired sweater! Found on Fashion Jot.
Comfortable Yet Stylish:
This would be super comfortable when running around with the kids or at work! I just purchased my first pair of flats and I must say they can be worn with just about anything – pants, skirts, and dresses! Love this color combination – so classy! You just can’t go wrong with a great white tank, slimming black pants and flats! Courtesy of Fashion Jot.
Invest in Oversized Sweaters:
Black anything is always a great staple. Just don’t make the same mistake I have made over the years and keep purchasing the same thing. I must have a ton of black sweaters in my closet! I love the simple boots that look comfortable and so stylish. The oversized sweaters are big this season (no pun intended) and look great with skin(nier) jeans. It is easy to accessorize as well – check your local Target for great designer brands that are pretty affordable. More great outfit ideas can be found on BModish.
Spicoli is Back:
Do you remember the movie Fast Times at Ridgemont High? Loved the slip-on Vans they wore! In Southern California we grew up wearing VANS slip-on’s! I am super excited to see them “back” in style (did they ever go out really?). They have them now in a ton of different prints – from plaid to leopard prints so have fun with them! And how cute is this outfit? Love the burgundy bag with the gray oversized sweater. This is fantastic color combination! Check online (Amazon) or your local department store for some cool slip-on’s. The sweater and pants are from Acne, shoes from Céline and bag from Stella McCartney. More great fashion tips can be found on Ellen Claesson.
Keep Working the Stripes:
I like this outfit because it is so simple (and doable for busy moms) with a fun and comfortable shoe. And stripes don’t seem to be going anywhere so keep wearing what you have or invest in a few shirts or sweaters! Image found on Time For Fashion Blogs.
Jewelry Trends:
Crystals:
I love crystals and am so happy to see they are back – in a BIG way! This necklace is so gorgeous by Celine and I am sure it costs a pretty penny! But check online at your favorite discount site (or JCrew sales) and see if they don’t have something similar that won’t break the bank. Image courtesy of Style Bistro. Necklace by Celine. And another trend (which I don’t know if I could pull off) is the large earring – just one! But if you have a special occasion – this might be fun to try out!
Colors for Fall:
And if you are curious about what colors are in this fall season, the Trend Council put this infographic together. I am loving the mint color nail polish! What is your favorite color this season? Courtesy of Fashion Vignette.
Combining Fall Colors:
Love this great infographic the Trend Council put together to help us figure out how to combine Fall 2014 trendy colors. Of course you should buy and wear colors you are comfortable in but why not surprise yourself this season and add in a color or two that you don’t normally wear! What about the gorgeous pinks that are big this season? This is such a pretty color on and would brighten up any day!

I’m loving all of these looks! We have rain and maybe even some snow in the forecast over the next few days—so fall has officially arrived (but hopefully not winer yet!).
Kristen
Wow I love all of these looks! My only sadness is that I love in the south where it’s still too hot to wear anything. That red bag is fab!
Melissa
I know it sure it! Just loving red this season Kristen! Thanks for stopping by =)
Michelle
Nice pairings. Most are too warm for me to wear down south, but you’ve got a good eye.

Thanks Michelle! It is too hot here in SoCal to wear these outfits as well but as soon as we hit under 80 degrees – I’m in boots =)
