Join Our Dandelion Moms Annual #GivingTuesday Event
Each month the dandelion moms Project Kindness supports organizations and individuals helping to make the world a better place. For the month of December we want to show support to the United Nations #GivingTuesday event that happens the first week of December by supporting two local women and children’s shelters and providing all the Project Night Night bags they might need for the holiday season. We would love for you to join us and participate in this year’s #GivingTuesday event which is a global day dedicated to giving back.
What is #GivingTuesday?
We have a day for giving thanks. We have two for getting deals. Now, we have #GivingTuesday, a global day dedicated to giving back. On Tuesday, December 2, 2014, charities, families, businesses, community centers, and students around the world will come together for one common purpose: to celebrate generosity and to give.
#GivingTuesday was founded in 2012 by New York’s 92nd Street Y in partnership with the United Nations Foundation. Together, with a team of influencers and founding partners, we launched a global movement that has engaged over 10,000 organizations worldwide.
If your schedule doesn’t permit to host an event on December 2nd – any day of the month works! And if you aren’t able to host an event, there are lots of small and large ways to give back. Read more about ways to help here and you can download their Guide to Giving Curriculum Guide designed for grades K through 12 and can be used by teachers and parents.
You can see a clip of Laura’s House – one of the shelters we are helping with our dandelion moms Project Kindness event on December 2nd. Domestic abuse affects so many people and crosses all economic boundaries. Many of these families had to leave their homes quickly and were only able to run out with the clothes on their back. By providing Project Night Night Tote Bags that are filled with a new stuffed animal, children’s book and new blanket, we hope to provide some comfort for these children. If you are local, or would like to help out – we are in need of new stuffed animals, new baby blankets and children’s books for ages 7 to 14 years.
Thank you for all that you do dandelion moms! No matter – large or small – all acts of kindness are valued and appreciated!
The Science of Giving Online Resource Center is a one-stop destination to learn about the science behind giving. It explores the big questions about why people give and why giving feels so good.
