Downton Abbey Inspired Tea Party Ideas
This past Friday, January 2nd, PBS and MASTERPIECE “hosted” a BIG SIP event in downtown New York City and are encouraging fans of Downton Abbey to get involved and host their own tea party in anticipation of tonight’s premiere of Season 5. I am so excited for tonight’s premiere that we are hosting our own little tea party today and wanted to share some ideas to join in the fun!
You can make your tea party as elaborate or as simple as you like. We used my grandmother’s pewter tea set that my mother gave me this last year. I love that it has been in the family three generations and I am able to share this set with my daughter. And I was able to pull out and use some tea cups I have had forever. One is from a pottery manufacturer in Thailand that I picked up many moons (and lifetimes ago) while living in Bangkok that I just have to share with you. I think it needs to be taken down from the kitchen cabinet and given it’s due course it’s so pretty!
If you are short on time (like us) just pick up some fresh strawberries and shortbread cookies at Trader Joe’s. So make sure to join in the fun tonight with a cup of tea and some cookies and watch Downton Abbey Season 5 Premiere at 9/8c on PBS with us! Here are some more ideas for a lovely tea party that you can host any time of the year.
It’s a Tea Party!
This is such a beautiful set up! I love how pretty this looks! There are loads of fun recipes to try out and we listed a couple below – but just have fun with it and offer goodies that you actually like to eat! Lots of great tea party ideas found on Dose.
Keep It Simple:
You can go all-out like in the photo above, or if you are short on time, just offer some shortbread cookies, lemon, honey and tea like this idea found on Gardens and Guns. Cute ideas found on Gardens and Guns.
Make it Playful:
Cut the sandwiches into different shapes for a more casual-style party. Cute ideas found on Zsa Zsa Bellagio.

Yum! These look so tasty – just might have to try out this recipe myself! Cream Scone recipe found on Country Living.
Rosemary Butter Cookies:
Recipe found on none other than the fabulous Martha Stewart!
Include Some Games:
