David Milchard Stars in Family Movie Russell Madness

Last week I had a chance to speak to David Milchard about his work with Convos with My Two Year-Old and his new film Russell Madness by Air Bud Entertainment. David Milchard is an award winning actor, improviser, comedian, writer, director and producer.  That’s right, he does all that and still has the time to call his mother. He’s also a singer-songwriter-guitar player.  Is he lying?  No.  He is perhaps best-known for the award winning YouTube hit, Convos With My Two-Year-Old, with over 60 million views. He is also the winner of the 2014 Best Actor Streamy Award. The Streamy Awards are awarded to the best in online video and the creators behind it.

Current and upcoming projects include the starring roles in After Party and the family film Russell Madness which was released in theaters February 21st.  He can also be found on tour in Roman Danylo’s Ultimate Comedy Show. In the family film RUSSELL MADNESS, to be released on Blu-ray and DVD March 10, he stars as “Nate Ferraro,” the reluctant recipient of the failing family wrestling business who, with the help of a wise-cracking talking Monkey named Hunk and adorable terrier named Russell, learns ‘The Strongest Tag Team is Family!’

As I mentioned, I had a chance to speak to David about his new movie and we spoke about Convos With My Two Year Old.  If you haven’t seen this YouTube series you really should check it out.  It is so funny! I asked David which was his favorite episode and he said that the one about the coffee table is one of his favorites because it is a full story – start to finish – and he believes it is the “best coffee table goodbye” in history.

When I asked him how the idea to create Convos With My Two Year-Old came about he said that his friend, Matthew Clarke, who is plays the father in Convos With My Two Year-Old, and he were talking about the absurd conversations Matthew has with his then two-year old daughter, Coco (the star of the show). And both felt that kids get away with saying the most outrageous things – things that adults could never get away with saying.   Once the idea started forming, they started talking out how to visually play out the stories and how they would act them out. They really do make such funny videos, one of my favorites is the one where he is trying to get Coco to go to bed and as parents we all know this can take much longer than needed on many nights!  Also, where she wants to help make the bed but ends up prolonging this task with all her funny antics.

Russell Madness is David’s first lead role but he has been in several movies including Tim Burton’s Big Eyes, The Company You Keep, Package Deal, Psych, Sanctuary, Witches of East End, Continuum, Fringe, Arrow, Geek Charming and many more.   I had a great time speaking to David and was laughing pretty much the whole interview – he is quite funny and talented! I asked him what was one of his favorite things about working on this new movie and he said working alongside John Ratzenberger, (who plays Cliff Clavin in Cheers) was something he is really thankful for having this experience.  On a side note, John has had a role in every film made by Pixar Studios!  We know him as the pig in Toy Story as well!

I look forward to checking out David’s new movie Russell Madness and crossing my fingers that the YouTube series Convos With My Two Year-Old gets picked up by a network – something David and Matthew are currently working on together.  His Paranormal Solutions series looks hysterical as well!

Good news!  We have a Blu-Ray + DVD copy of Russell Madness to hand out!  Good luck lovely dandelion moms!
