Independent arts organization, RAW Artists takes over The Yost Theater for a celebration of local arts!

A close friend of mine introduced me to this wonderful venue that celebrates and supports local artists!  I am a big believer in supporting local artists because by supporting them you are helping out your own community.  Plus, you can see and purchase amazing artwork, photography, and jewelry at these types of events.

“We welcome all genres of art including independent film, fashion, music, visual art, performing art, hairstylists, makeup artists and more. We encourage the creative success of the many visionaries and storytellers of our generation. RAW currently operates in nearly 60 cities across the United States, Australia, Canada and, now London!”

HOW DOES RAW WORK?

Their RAW Directors hand-pick and spotlight local artistic talent in film, fashion, music, visual art, hair & makeup artistry, and performance art. With artists from all genres in each showcase, RAW events come together to form an amazing one-night circus of creativity. These showcases occur once a month in each city location. Their RAW season runs from February-October and comes to an extravagant end with the indie arts awards show RAWards in Hollywood. What can you expect when attending a RAW Showcase? You’ll experience an independent film (usually a short, webisode or music video), a fashion show from an up-and-coming local designer, a musical performance, an art gallery featuring several independent visual artists and photographers, and performance art (comedy/dance/fire dancers, you name it…). You’ll get a little taste of everything. Combine all this creativity with drinks, fun, and good company!

RAW Artists returns to Orange County on Saturday, April 4th with a spring showcase entitled EXPOSURE, featuring over 30 talented local artists covering several creative mediums that include photography, music, jewelry, art and much more!  RAW produces bimonthly showcases in over 50 cities across the US and abroad, and creates a worldwide platform for artists that provide tools and resources to support their careers while entertaining guests at the event.

Sophie Anne and I have been friends for a long time now and I think she is  just so creative.  I am really excited about her new line of jewelry as there is something quite calming and magical about her work. She is a busy mother of two boys, a wife, about one of the nicest people you will meet!  She is one of the featured artists this weekend and is providing us with a gorgeous mother and daughter bracelet set for a giveaway.  She says she is “all about colors. Each day has one, a certain vibe that pervades everything and reflects in activities big and small. Through art I try to convey that energy, and gemstones directly bring out these different vibrations. So combining them is both an artistic, meditative and healing act that connects the artist, the piece and the one who will wear them.”

Sophie is providing a mother- daughter combo bracelet set that can be made either with turquoise stones or a Purple Hamsa Bracelet: Rhodonite, Purple lace jasper, Amethyst, with a hand or “Hamsa” charm, a palm-shaped amulet symbolizing protection.
