RFP Testing Provides a Safer Sporting Environment for Athletes

“The King-Devick Test is beneficial to me because it’s a sideline objective test. It’s easy to use and allows me to have another sound backing in my assessments of a head injury. Since I have been involved with the K-D Test, I have had nothing but positive outcomes. The athletes seemed to have taken well to it, and it’s not overwhelming to implement within an already established head injury protocol. All-in-all the King-Devick Test has proven its worth by its ease of use, validity, and time-efficient objectivity.” ~ Rickey Perales, ATC, Head Athletic Trainer at St. Laurence High School

As a parent I had my reservations about my daughter playing soccer after researching the number of head-related injuries children experience playing youth sports! In fact, nearly 4 million American athletes suffer sports-related concussions annually, and most go undetected. We have yet to have a standardized testing protocol that youth athletic programs have incorporated with their coaching staff. When I heard about RFP Testing (Remove From Play) and how they are leading a CHANGE in sports injury protocols across North America, with their easy-to use app and testing protocol, I wanted to learn more and share it with you all!

RFP Testing provides a safer sporting environment for sports team with quick and accurate concussion screening that determines whether to REMOVE FROM PLAY.  Maria Bailey of Mom Talk Radio and Mom Select introduced me to this innovative company.  She feels strongly about keeping our kids safe while playing youth sports and had the unfortunate experience of riding in the back of an ambulance after her son suffered a sports-related concussion.

As a child I played soccer for well over ten years and was told a few years back that I have an old head injury from my nutritionist after he did some kinetic testing on me. I am pretty sure this was a result from my years of playing sports as a child!  Maria has put together a Smart Mom Solutions handbook that will help you bring change in your community.     You can read Maria’s handbook here and to learn more about the RFP Testing go to their website.

RFP: Remove From Play – A Veteran Owned Company

RFP Testing was founded by Don Carducci and Charlie Felker, two West Point graduates and combat veterans that conducted seven tours to Iraq and Afghanistan.  Both Carducci and Felker witnessed the long-term effects of head injuries during their time in service and the need for an immediate, accurate and objective concussion-screening tool.

After leaving the military, Carducci and Felker partnered with the founder of the King-Devick Test, Steve Devick, to change the way sports programs detect concussed athletes.  The mission of RFP Testing is to become a trusted partner in the education and implementation of objective “remove-from-play” decision making.  Armed with a roster of highly-qualified veterans and former athletes, the RFP team is committed to individual brain safety by changing concussion protocol in all fields of play. Here is a demonstration on how the King Devick Test that tests to see if there is any sports-related concussions to an athlete immediately after an impact that might have caused some brain damage.  It is a fairly easy system to use and can immediately alert coaches and parents to any possible signs of brain injury.
