The Crayola DJ App Provides Hours of Entertainment

The Google Play Store is all grown up!

If you haven’t had a chance to check out the cool apps available now in the Google Play marketplace you just might want to as they have a vast selection of quality apps geared towards children featuring some of your favorite characters like Barbie or Lego, and content from The Jim Henson Company Doozers-Play Along Stories and Crayola’s DJ interactive app from Legacy Games.

This past April, the Google Play Store began allowing apps to request a review to earn a “family friendly” designation. Those apps must comply with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act, which provides safeguards for children younger than 13. Google also enlisted the International Age Rating Coalition to designate ratings for apps based on local laws and culture. (Source: USA Today, May 28th).

Video game industry veteran Ariella Lehrer is CEO of Legacy Games. Her company makes Crayola DJ, an app that teaches kids ages 6 to 10 how to mix and scratch music like a professional DJ. Lehrer says she’s “thrilled” that Crayola DJ will be featured in the Google Play kids’ section. And she applauded Google for giving parents new ways to discover age-appropriate apps. The Crayola DJ App Lets Your Kids Imagination Soar!

There is something about watching my daughter create music on apps like Crayola DJ that makes my so happy! Music is such an important part of the human experience don’t you think? And to have these wonderful resources available at our children’s fingertips is mind-blowing. Who knows all the benefits of introducing music – and the ability to create music – at such an early age can do to a child’s brain development. For our New Year’s party this past year, our daughter played DJ and I sure wish we had the Crayola DJ app then to help her create the music she wanted.

You can create great sounding music with Crayola DJ! Kids (and big kids) can mix loops, add in some fun sound effects, then take your creations to your next dance party! It is really easy to navigate around the app as there are instructions given throughout to make it easy for kids to understand and create music to their hearts desire!

One of our favorite aspects of the Crayola DJ is that you can play with tracks in different genres, including dance, pop, and hip hop. My daughter is all about pop at the moment (she would love to see Taylor Shift in concert) and she had a blast mixing and adding in funky sound effects. And of course, my husband and I got to enjoy her dance party to the tunes she created – which was usually around dinnertime as she was so excited to share the songs she created (and dance moves). The color-coded music creates an exciting color and light show so be sure to turn down the lights for a colorful and exciting dance party – in your own living room!
