7 Easy Birthday Cake Designs
This next week we are hosting my daughter’s birthday and I decided to make the cake this year. I am always astonished at some of the cake designs on Pinterest. They are so talented! But I am not that talented by any means, so I wanted to find cake designs that could be done easily but look great. I think I am going to make the chocolate cake recipe again (go here for the recipe) and make some cupcakes. Here are some of my favorite cake designs. Which one do you want to try out for your next party? Happy baking!
Somewhere Over the Rainbow Cake:
This just might be it! Super easy and so much fun! What’s not to like about colorful sprinkles atop cake? There are so many great cake designs found on BuzzFeed in an article by Rachel Sanders. Plus, she provides a great tip on how best to frost the cake (start at the center and work on the sides with the excess frosting from the top) to a quick and easy way to frost your cake (use store-bought frosting, heat up in microwave and pour – yes, pour over the top of the cake. Read more here. And here is a quick video tutorial from Tablespoon on how to decorate the cake with sprinkles.
Balloons and more balloons:
I just have a thing for balloons! They just put a smile on my face! This would be a really easy way to add some fun to your birthday cake. This idea can be found on BuzzFeed. Here’s our post about fun ways to decorate your party with balloons.
It’s a Big Day!
Love this clever idea found on Catch My Party. She provides a simple tutorial.
Roar!
What a simple but great idea from Baby De Roach! You would just need to get some plastic dinosaurs and rock candy to make this fun cake for your dinosaur loving kid!
Personalize it:
What a nice surprise for the birthday boy or girl! A tutorial can be found on Project Denneler.
OREO’s + Cupcakes = The Perfect Cupcake:
How amazing is this?! An OREO cookie at the bottom of the cupcake? I do think we will be trying this tip. Be sure to check out Cupcakes Garden – she has a ton of cupcake recipes.
Hope you like some of these ideas! If you are interested in making a dragon cake here is our recent post about throwing a Dragon-themed party. The cake took a little more time but the kids loved it!
