The Magic of Disneyland’s 60th Anniversary Celebration
“Disneyland will never be completed, as long as there is imagination left in the world.”
~ Walt Disney
Growing up in Southern California we would take a trip to Disneyland about once or twice a year and it was always so magical! Usually my parents would surprise my brother and I and announce over breakfast “we are going to Disneyland” which we would respond with yelps and screams of joy! This was back in the day when Disneyland had E Tickets (anyone remember those) so we had to pick our favorite rides for those treasured E Tickets.
Disneyland is celebrating it’s 60th Anniversary all year long and guests will experience three new nighttime spectacular sights. Disneyland is such a magical place for kids and big kids at heart but they have really outdone themselves in celebration of their 60th Anniversary! All year long visitors will experience some gorgeous new sights and sounds at the park.
The Magic of Disneyland:
Be immersed in wonder in Disneyland’s world of pyrotechnics and visual effects. Last week I had a chance to watch this amazing show and I was totally mesmerized by the fireworks and music playing throughout. Something about Disneyland just taps into your inner child doesn’t it? I felt like I was eight again sitting on my dad’s shoulders watching the parade go by. While enjoying the fireworks we are treated to two original songs: Its theme “Live the Magic” and its inspiring closing song “Kiss Goodnight,” which was written by Disney Legend Richard M. Sherman. Go here to find out more about the show and recommended locations in the park where best to see this amazing fireworks display.
Paint the Night Parade
You don’t want to miss the most amazing light parades you will probably ever see! With over one million lights – Main Street is lite up with Tinker Bell, the Toy Story characters, and many more. One of my favorite floats was Frozen and you could see Elsa and Anna on the balcony waving to all below. Another favorite was seeing the crew from Cars! Other characters you will see include:
- Tinker Bell
- Peter Pan
- Lightning McQueen
- Mike & Sulley
- Ariel
- Belle
- Rapunzel
- Anna & Elsa
- Buzz & Woody
You really don’t want to miss watching the most spectacular light show in all of Disneyland’s history!
“World of Color – Celebrate! The Wonderful World of Walt Disney”:
Award-winning actor Neil Patrick Harris joins Mickey Mouse on a magical water canvas to entertain guests in their un-filled new precision of the popular, nighttime “World of Color” spectacular in Disney California Adventure.
Other Sites To See Include:
Diamond Mad T Party
One of my favorite sights was the Diamond Mad T Party Parade over at Disney California Adventure Park around 5pm. Treat your senses to the fun and funky sounds of the Mad T Party band as they play contemporary and classic rock favorites. Members of the band include:
- The Mad Hatter and Alice on vocals
- March Hare on bass
- Dormouse on guitar
- Caterpillar on keyboard
- Cheshire Cat on drums
Some of your favorite Disney movie characters parade by and you can’t help but get caught up by all the excitement and just plain fun!
I loved seeing all the colorful costumes and floats going by. Though beware – some of the floats will spray you with water if you aren’t paying attention. It is the Mad T Party Parade after all!
The Haunted Mansion:
And be sure to check out The Haunted Mansion for a spooky good time this Halloween! This is one of our favorite rides and I was pleasantly surprised to see some new additions to The Mansion including a visit from The Hatbox Ghost. Spooky!
Don’t forget to stop by the Mickey Pumpkin at the front of Main Street, U.S.A. and take your picture with him!
