Transformers: Robots in Disguise – A New Autobot Mission DVD Review
Transformers: Robots in Disguise – A New Autobot Mission DVD Review
I was sent the Transformers: Robots in Disguise – A New Autobot Mission DVD for review. This is the first time these five episodes from the top-rated animated series from Cartoon Network are available on DVD. It features an all-new animation style with exciting action adventures and humor for all ages. This DVD begins a new chapter as Bumblebee and a team of Autobot action heroes embark on a new mission to protect and save Earth from a new faction of Decepticons.
The new mission begins when Bumblebee has to step up to be leader in the years following the Autobots in Transformers Prime. He is summoned by Optimus Prime to assemble a rouge team of Autobot action heroes to defeat the new Decepticon threat on Earth. Bumblebee has his work cut out for him fighting evil, being a squad leader, and coaching a team that needs lessons in teamwork. His team consists of the bombastic dinobot Grimlock, the cool rebel Sideswipe, overly excited mini-con Fixit, and elite guard cadet Strongarm. They all have to work together along with human allies, Denny and Russell, to capture their new enemies with some comical results.
When I first received this DVD for review, I was a bit worried if my boys would like it. They are 5 and 10 years old. This is not the normal television genre they usually watch. I also wondered if my 5 year old would find the characters scary. I could not have been more wrong. They were both riveted to the DVD. They kept asking to watch more episodes as they wanted to know the outcome. My youngest did not find anything remotely scary. They actually found this new genre a refreshing change. They both immediately bonded to the main character, Bumblebee. They enjoyed how the characters transformed from robots to vehicles. Additionally, they liked to subtle humor in the show. The action and adventure kept them engaged and sitting still for once!
Transformers: Robots in Disguise features the voice talent of the following:
Will Friedle of Boy Meets World
Darren Criss of Glee
Constance Zimmer of Entourage
Khary Payton of Teen Titans Go!
Mitchell Whitfield of TMNT
Peter Cullen who voices Optimus Prime
There are five action-packed adventures and a bonus feature, A Look Behind-the-Scenes. The DVD runs approximately 110 minutes and is rated TV Y7. The DVD will be available in Walmart stores nationwide on October 20, 2015. The suggested retail price will be $14.93.
The DVD is being released by Shout! Factory kids in collaboration with Hasbro Studios.
In anticipation for the release today, we are thrilled to introduce you to STRONGARM from TRANSFORMERS ROBOTS IN DISGUISE. A strong and fearless AUTOBOT, STRONGARM [voiced by Constance Zimmer] uses wit and skills to battle the DECEPTICONS!
Note: I was sent this DVD for review. I was not compensated for this post. All opinions are my own and being sent the DVD did not affect my opinion in any way.

My little niece is maybe just a bit too young for Transformers, so she has not seen it yet.
Great review Debbi. I feel comfortable letting my niece watch the DVD. She is into old school robots and helicopters right now.
