7 Comfy and Fashionable Fall Outfit Ideas

The first few days of November have been heavenly in Southern California! Yes, it would appear our horrible seven month heat wave has finally taken a turn.  When I pulled out my riding boots the other day I was doing the happy dance all over the house.  I told my husband it is a glorious day when the boots come out!  In my excitement I selected these comfortable fall outfits that would look great this fall season.  Comfortable + Fashionable = a happy mom!

Get a Pair of Converse:

Or you any cute pair of comfortable tennis shoes.  And I am still seeing army jackets this fall season as well.  This would be a good staple for your wardrobe. I’ve seen some inexpensive ones at Target. I really love this whole look! Found on Pinterest and Miss Pool

Pull Out Them Boots!

There are many inexpensive sites (and resale boutiques) that sell boots.  Try to get one black and one brown pair that will last through the seasons.  I like the riding boot style which seems to always be in style and they are really comfortable (a plus for busy moms).  And they go with just about everything. Boho Casual Is In!

I have to admit, I am a sucker for this look.  It is the ultimate in casual wear and it looks so darn cute!  I found a hat like this for next to nothing at our local resale store.  Check online for something similar and add some fun to a simple outfit. Lots of cute Boho casual outfit ideas found on Stylish Wife.

Invest in a good pair of black pants:

I recently found some great Paige black jeans at Marshalls and have worn them a ton already.  They go with booties, riding boots and even heels for date night.  More great ideas found on Wachabuy.com

Add a Scarf or Two:

There are a some really great scarves out there that aren’t super expensive.  But make sure to buy ones that won’t scratch or irritate your skin.  I prefer the more natural materials like pure wool or even cotton. You can find some great polka dotted ones, stripes, pretty plaids.  See what would work with your existing wardrobe to add some spice. Check out the fun and comfy outfits found on The 36th Avenue site.

Coat Perfection:

You do know about my coat obsession right?  Living in So Cal we just don’t have many opportunities to wear coats but when we do it is a happy day around this house! I just had to share this gorgeous coat I found on Wachabuy.com.  It is so beautiful and love the gray and orange together!  Perfect for fall!

I like a man’s hat (for my big head *lol* and my dd will be the same as she’s got a good size noggin too 🙂 and as she says it’s because our brains are so knowledgeable – I like that)! I prefer a man’s hat too b/c of the bill/rim is different than a ladies. Best style for me is not quite a fedora and definitely not a floppy hat – I know it when I see it as I could not tell you what it’s called only what it’s not 🙂 I have black boots currently as my brown one’s need to be replaced (last couple years) as those are my faves (and boots of any/all styles – cowboy and riding top picks) as I’m not too good on or with shorter ones. I used to have a great pair of black suede – this year I’d love to get a grey suede. It’s on my list!

I’ve had (too many years to say – but it’s held up that loooong) an orange – tangerine actually rain coat that I adore! It’s so cheerful on a rainy, dull/overcast day that it brightens everything <3

I also can't do without scarves (chevron and other patterns – all colors and styles) and then boot cuffs/socks! All year long!

Add in vests too. My dd loves them much more than I do but if it's not a too cold day and just crisp out I love pairing a vest with a long sleeve shirt or turtleneck/cowl neck and jeans (I have to get tapered legs though as my ankles and wrists are the skinniest thing on me *haha*)

BTW I enjoy leggings in dark neutral shades – (PSA) please, do not wear nude leggings. It confuses my children (and I have to admit ~ myself sometimes); if you do wear leggings – no matter the color, try to pair with a fun and/or beautiful tunic that fits your style and represents you (there are so many great ones available today). If you do go for nude, make sure that tunic is really a tunic and covering your back side; you'll thank me later along with every one else (regardless of size as this is not being insulting to anyone).

Guess what?! It's almost CHRISTMAS! I'm ready to complain about the cold weather *brrrr* just as I did with the heat (c'mon we're all guilty of it *lol*). Get out your gloves, ear muffs, all other outerwear and put your best foot forward in the style that works for you (and is also comfortable/which makes you comfortable in your own skin and what you have on). Happy fall, y'all!
