5 Unique Ideas to Bring More Color into Your Home

For many years now I have been decorating my home with neutrals.  From my light colored grey walls, to wood furniture, I have preferred to stick to neutrals.  But this past year I’ve been drawn to homes that are decorated with pops of color.  I adore Jonathan Adler’s style, Interior Decorator/Author Emily Henderson and the countless talented designers you find on Instagram.  The homes I am most drawn to are where we see a mix of textiles, textures and color.  Are you finding your tastes are changing as well?  Here are some simple ideas to help bring some color into your home.  Anything from painting chairs you find at your local discount store to painting the inside of your kitchen cabinets a striking color – here are some of our favorites!

Put some paint on it:

These metal barstools look amazing in such vibrant colors.  You could spray paint them in one afternoon!   Lots of inspiration can be found on Home Beautiful.

Pops of Color:

Doesn’t this dining area just look so happy?!  I love this idea of painting the inside of a simple white bookcase to bring some real fun into your home. Rachel Sumner of Brit + Co put together a great display of ways to beautify your bookcases.  This idea comes from Half Asleep Studio.  Love it!

Pottery and more pottery:

You can find some unique pottery at your local antique and Salvation Army stores.  Also check eBay and local estate sales.  You might be surprised at the treasures available at a reasonable price!  Mix and match colors, textures, and sizes for a really wonderful display that will bring a smile to your day.

Paint an accent wall or door:

I’ve seen this image floating around and absolutely love the two colors together and on a door no less!  Also, look for a small wall you could add some color to in your home.  We painted a couple of our doors in chalk paint in a great teal color (you can get chalk paint in a ton of colors now) and is fun for the kids to write on. Found on Buzz Feed.

Paint inside your cabinets:

This is so unexpected don’t you think.  Open up your kitchen cabinets to this pop of color and you’ve just made everyone’s day!  I love teal, I cannot lie, so this was instant love on my end.  Pick your favorite color and paint inside your cabinets around the house for some excitement.  What about your linen closet?  Or underneath the sink?  Any place that could use a little something something. This clever idea can be found on Curbly.

Hope you enjoyed these easy and doable ideas that can bring more color into your life and home.  All can be done with a can of paint (or spray paint) and some elbow grease!  Have fun!
