Tips for Hosting a Bad Moms Night In Party
Last weekend I hosted a Bad Moms party at my house to celebrate the Universal Home Entertainment and STX release of Bad Moms to Blu-ray/DVD on November 1st. I have to say it was such a fun night to hang with other moms and just let loose. If you haven’t seen the movie yet you really need to have a girls night in (and possibly head out later on in the night) and watch it together. You can read my review of the movie here as well as read what the stars of movie had to say about their own journey as mothers.
I felt the message of Bad Moms which was written by Jon Lucas & Scott Moore (writers of THE HANGOVER) is about moms just giving each other and themselves a break. I think we all put too much pressure on ourselves to be the best mom around and unfairly judge one another. I’ve always been a fan of the expression Live and Let Live and this movie really hit home with me because that is the message of this movie. Just live your life, do the best you can do and don’t be so hard on yourself! You got this moms!
Here are some fun ideas to host your own Bad Moms Night In/Celebration of Motherhood event! Plus we are offering some goodies including a copy of Bad moms on Blu-ray/DVD! Starring some of the funniest actresses out there including Mila Kunis, Kristen Bell, Kathryn Hahn, Annie Mumolo, with Jada Pinkett-Sm
Decor:
It is easy to get ready for this party – just put up some paper lanterns on your fireplace and a fun little paper tassles across sliding door or entryway. Add in a couple candles – in the backyard, fireplace, bathrooms that add a little ambiance and they don’t cost much.
Beverages:
Set up a bar section on either your kitchen countertop or the dining room table. You can decorate it as you like, but definitely take advantage of those cute cake trays you might have. Depending on what everyone likes to drink you can mix and match.
We may or may not have had whiskey shots available for the brave moms! I’d stick to the basics and have everyone bring along their favorite beverage to share. That way everyone can drink what they like best!
One of our moms made her famous (yet secret recipe) homemade margaritas for us to enjoy. Check out her drink demo here. I asked our favorite bartender, Kevin, to send over his favorite margarita recipe and see what he created for us below!
Be sure to have bottled water on hand! We so appreciated the Icelandic Water (who happens to be a promo partner for the film) bottles that were sent to us. Be sure to hydrate throughout the night ladies!
Food:
Ask around your local grocery store to see if they might donate a meat and cheese tray to your party. Explain that you are hosting a party with some local moms and would be happy to put their business cards out at the party. Pacific Ranch Market located in Orange set us up with some amazing trays! I sent them a picture of what I wanted – some good meats, cheeses, olives, nuts, dried fruit and they went all out! Not only did they look great their food is delicious!
These trays are perfect for the holidays! I love to have snacks out and they do all the work for me! To purchase everything would cost me a bunch more than just ordering a tray or two from them. If you are local, be sure to check out Pacific Ranch Market’s amazing holiday trays that you can customize if you like!
Door Prizes:
Ask around to your friends, you might be surprised who donates some items to your party! We were lucky that my hair stylist and owner of two AL.KA.LI hair salons donated two blow-outs and reconstruction hair treatments, Aestheticare Med Spa, Lynne Brownell, RN, MSN, NP, Med Spa Director donated two medical-grade facials, and Erna van Dyk (our very own art contributor) donated one of her books and elephant cards as well. And Melanie Cooper of Get Raw Box provided a yummy box of treats.
We ended up playing a fun dice game and the winners got to chose their prizes. There are a ton of fun party game ideas here on our Pinterest Board.
Mani/Pedi and Coloring Books
I love the adult coloring book trend going on! They sent us some hysterical coloring books called Mommy Drinks Because You Cry: A Sarcastic Coloring Book that even has tear-out pages that are ready to frame! Put some colorful pencils into a mason jar and you are set!
And Nail Snaps can customize anything you might want on your nails. They sent us some Bad Moms nails that were really easy to put on and were such a hit!

I saw it but with a few other Bad Moms so we missed most of it getting drink refills. 🙂 Just watched it over the holiday with family. Great!

I would love this looks absolutely fun and hilarious. I have a group of moms that we’d have a blast doing this.

My sister and I saw this together on a night out without our children and laughed so hard. I’m currently going through a divorce so I really connected with main character!

No, I didn’t see the movie in the theater as it is 7 miles away but takes anywhere from 30-45 minutes to get there.

Hi Jeannette
These were given to use from the PR firm we were working with. I would try to Google them and see if something comes up! Have fun at your party!
