Amazon Kids Original: Lost in Oz ~ Streaming Now

Amazon Original Kids has an enchanting new special out: Lost in Oz: Extended AdventureGather your kids up (or if you’re an Oz fan/animation fan then gather yourself up) and stream it from your TV, computer, or device. This special premiered on December 2nd in the US and UK (ahead of the CG series debut in 2017). This animated action-adventure comedy was part of Amazon Studios’ 2015 summer pilot season, earning 4.9 out of 5 stars in customer ratings. The special includes the original pilot plus 40 minutes worth of “extended adventure”.

The new special still has all of our memorable characters (and some new twists too … expect the unexpected regarding some things but in a good way – it’s not a rehash of the movie y’all) – with some “tweaking” … Dorothy is a “modern” tween now, and one that invents things so full #stem ahead [see what I did there].

In the first episode #LostInOz “Extended Adventure”, Dorothy Gale (age 12), finds a mysterious and magical book hidden under the floorboards of her home. Of course she opens it and when she does – well, let’s just say Toto and Dorothy are transported to Oz via a magical tornado *shabam*. This isn’t the Oz of my time – no, this is a futuristic metropolis that is bustling. Annnd Dorothy was able to squeak in a “life line” of sorts albeit a short one. I don’t want to tell you everything. She learns enough to know where she needs to go and what she needs to do which leads her to the “yellow brick line” an abandoned train station. She ends up making friends (and allies) – relying on a young witch named West, that is having some inner turmoil between good and bad “magic” and a friendly half-munchkin, Ojo.

Dorothy also realizes that all is not as it seems in Oz. Currently, there’s a shortage of magic in Oz! The only way it seems for Dorothy and Toto to get back home is to find the most powerful witch in Oz: Glinda. Pssst Glinda is elusive … this of course will set up a wide multitude of episodes (to introduce characters and more) – which should follow in 2017 on Amazon Original Kids programming.

Lost in Oz is based on the “OZ” books by L. Frank Baum. It was executive produced by Abram Makowka, Darin Mark, Jared Mark and Mark Warshaw (East Los High), and the series features the voice talents of Ashley Boettcher (Dorothy and Gortimer Gibbon’s Life on Normal Street), Nika Futterman (West and The Loud House), and Jorge Diaz (Ojo and Elena of Avalor).
