Host a GALentine’s Day Party for your best galpals!

A few weeks back I hosted a GALentine’s Day party for some girlfriends in conjunction with Disney for the Blu-ray release of The Light Between Oceans.  It got me thinking about how important it is to show the women in my life how much they mean to me.  These friendships have helped me through some good times and bad.  So why not show some love to the friends in your life and throw a little get-together.  Here are some tips for celebrating the friendships in your life.

Treat Yo’ Self:

Treating myself includes hiring a cleaning crew to get the house ready before a party.  I highly recommend doing this as it just makes your life easier.  Even if you hire them to just clean up the kitchen and dining area (many cleaning services offer this per hour rate), it will save you some time so you can just do the fun stuff – like decorate the house for the party.

Add flowers, and then more flowers:

Yes!  I just love buying flowers each week and putting them around the house.  Nowadays, you can find them pretty inexpensively at your local grocery store. Just put them in some pretty vases.  Once bunch can go a long way!

Chocolate Please!

Most women I know love chocolate!  So splurge (or make one) and put a pretty cake out for the party.  This chocolate mousse cake was quite a hit.  And it went well with our beverages!  Hey, it is a moms night out so we might have had some adult beverages.  I recommend asking friends to bring along their favorite beverage.  My friend, Tiya, makes the best homemade margaritas which she made for us.  You can find a similar recipe here.

Party Favors:

Courtesy of Disney, they provided us with some fun goodies to hand out.  You can do something similar (and enter our giveaway below) and include some bath bombs, candles, slippers, and tea. The ladies like goodies!  We enjoyed watching The Light Between Oceans!

Decor:

I found these cute streamers at our local Marshalls for a dime.  Place some Valentine’s Day banners and streamers across your fireplace and sliding doors.  It is a simple way to add some cheer to any type of party.  I also love the pretty paper fans and balls you find at any local craft store.  These can be reused – just used a paper clip to close them instead of the tape they provide.  Great little tip so you can reuse them for your next party.

Take Photos:

Between eating the meat and cheese platters (I highly recommend putting out a meat and cheese platter) and drinks, we managed to take a few pictures before the night got too crazy.  Just kidding (sort of), but do take some pictures throughout the night.  It is a great way to memorialize the time with friends.  You can even create a simple backdrop with some pretty paper.  For New Year’s, I just used some shiny wrapping paper for our backdrop.  Just tape it high enough and unroll it to about knee length, and viola, a great backdrop.

So this Valentine’s Day, take some time out to show you friends how much you appreciate them!
