9 Holiday Porch Ideas You’ll Want to Copy!

This year I started decorating the house really early for the holidays.  I could’t resist all the cuteness I was seeing at our local Marshall’s and picked up some items for the house.  It was time to switch up the holiday knick knacks as some are long past being called cute or even useful.  You know how it is, lights that don’t work anymore but didn’t make it in the trash last year, or broken bulbs, or holiday plush that I didn’t care for anymore.  The house looks cute (I’ll do a home tour soon) but that doesn’t leave much in my budget for the front porch. I went in search of some economical yet cheerful design ideas.  I hope these ideas inspire you as much as they have me.  I plan to use items I already have around the house and inexpensive items off Amazon. I’ll share the finished product soon!  Enjoy!

 

Borrow from the kids:

Love this idea!  You might already have one of these wagons.  You can use either a live Christmas tree or a small cut one.  Just be sure to keep it watered throughout the holidays.  These cute burlap bags are all over the place!  I found some at our local Marshalls but you could use use a plain burlap bag as well. DIY Galvanized Buckets

Mix Patterns:

Use an old bench or rocking chair and add a holiday pillow.  Loving the basket filled with greenery and branches.  Items you can pick up on your next nature walk. Tutorial can be found on Yellow Prairie Interiors.

Design on a dime:

If you are like me you have empty pots hanging around the house. You can find greenery at your local nursery or if you have pines growing near you, cut off some branches.  Add in some pretty red berries, pine cones and you are set!  Found on What Rose Knows.

 

So Merry and Bright:

I absolutely love this set up!  You can use an old blanket or pick up some holiday fabric.  Loving all the plaids we are seeing – from the runways to home decor, you will see plaid everywhere!  Though this looks like a lot of effort, if you put some logs in a bucket, add some lights and a wooden box, and ice skates if you have some or even rain boots and that is it.  Decorate and have fun with it. DIY Craft:

This is a great craft to do for just about any holiday! The blogger at Finding Home Farms says it took her less than 10 minutes to put this together but it sure is cute!  You can put these inside the house or outside.

It’s the little touches:

This is a super sweet idea.  I believe this is a fake wreath that can picked up at your local craft store.  You probably already have some holiday ribbon laying around the house that you can use to create this look.  Found on The Morrisons Blog.

 

For covered porches:

What a gorgeous set up!  I wish we had kept the red tricycle we got for my daughter’s second birthday!  She had one just like this and it sure looks cute on this porch.  You can find old wooden crates at your local antique stores for pretty cheap.  Be sure to negotiate pricing!  Again, you can use a live or fake tree – your preference. And since it is a covered area, wrap some empty boxes with holiday wrapping paper to finish the look.  Found on The Shelterness.
