Paddington 2 in Theaters Now!

Following the worldwide hit “Paddington,” one of the most successful family films of all time, this much-anticipated sequel finds Paddington (Ben Whishaw) happily settled with the Brown family in London, where he has become a popular member of the local community, spreading joy and marmalade wherever he goes.  After watching the first Paddington movie I immediately went out to try marmalade for the first time!  I actually rather liked it and can see why Paddington is such a fan!

Paddington 2 takes us on a rather fun and mysterious treasure hunt. While searching for the perfect present for his beloved Aunt Lucy’s hundredth birthday, Paddington sees a unique pop-up book in Mr. Gruber’s antique shop, and embarks upon a series of odd jobs to buy it that includes a very short stint as an (accidental) barber. But when the book is stolen, it’s up to Paddington and the Browns to unmask the thief.  This hunt for the thief takes us across England to some of their most famous landmarks.  In this way, it is quite educational for the youngsters.  I have yet to visit England but I really want to after seeing this movie!

Reuniting many of the original film’s cast while welcoming those in new roles, “Paddington 2” stars Golden Globe nominee Hugh Bonneville (“Downton Abbey”), Oscar nominee Sally Hawkins (“Blue Jasmine”), three-time Golden Globe nominee Brendan Gleeson (“The Guard,” “Into the Storm,” “In Bruges”), Oscar nominee Julie Walters (“Billy Elliot,” “Educating Rita”), Oscar winner Jim Broadbent (“Iris”), and Oscar winner Peter Capaldi (short, “Franz Kafka’s It’s a Wonderful Life”), with Golden Globe and BAFTA Award winner Hugh Grant (“Four Weddings and a Funeral”), and BAFTA winner Ben Whishaw (“The Hollow Crown”) as the voice of Paddington.

This is a story about hidden treasure but most importantly about sticking by those you care about – no matter what!  Paddington 2 is such a great film that the whole family will enjoy.

We had a chance to see an early screening of the movie last week and participate in a tea party featuring marmalade, tea and cookie decorating from Jenny Cookies. We even had a visit from the two Hugh’s! You can image my delight at meeting my girlhood crush, Hugh Grant!  And yes ladies, he is as cute as can be in person.

We had a chance to make some Paddington cookies courtesy of Jenny Cookies and enjoy some biscuits and tea.

I got these two to laugh for our pic! Made my day =)

Each family was allowed a quick photo op with Hugh Grant and Hugh Bonneville along with Paddington.  When it was my turn, I immediately walked up to them and said “I’m just going to squeeze in here between you two boys,” and proceeded to pull them in tight for the picture.  I mean, come on, it was Hugh Grant!  They were quite the gentlemen and the kids who were there enjoyed meeting them as well!

The film was produced by multiple award-winning producer David Heyman (the “Harry Potter” films, “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them,” Oscar nominee for “Gravity”).   Serving as executive producers were Rosie Alison, Jeffrey Clifford, Alexandra Ferguson Derbyshire, Ron Halpern, and Didier Lupiter.
