IMAX® original film “Pandas” is a breathtaking documentary adventure for the whole family!
Pandas is a film to take the whole family to:
Pandas are beloved around the world, and now they are coming to the big screen in the IMAX® original film “Pandas,” a breathtaking documentary adventure and amazing experience for the whole family narrated by Kristen Bell.
“I am thrilled to team up with IMAX and Warner Bros. Pictures to help tell this incredible story in the larger-than-life IMAX format,” said Kristen Bell. “Pandas not only spotlights the important work being done to protect these beloved and ridiculously cute animals, but it provides us with inspiration and hope and showcases the great things we can achieve when we work together.”
I had a chance to preview this sweet film a few weeks back and all I can say is that I am in love with Pandas now! Not that I wasn’t before, but when you see this movie with the kids, you are going to laugh out loud and maybe shed a few happy tears at the situations these pandas find themselves in and fall in love with these adorable creatures. For example, did you know how much they love to play? And one of their favorite things to do is roll down hills, head over paws type of rolling! I had no idea. And one the wildlife specialists shared with us at the World pPremiere that pandas breath smells like bamboo ice cream! Not that I remember ever trying bamboo ice cream… but I can just imagine!
About the film:
After years of success breeding captive pandas, scientists at the Chengdu Research Base For Giant Panda Breeding (aka Chengdu Panda Base) in China are taking their efforts to the next stage and preparing captive-born cubs for release in the wild. This film follows one such researcher, whose passion leads her to initiate a new reintroduction technique inspired by a black bear rehabilitator in rural New Hampshire. What starts as a cross-cultural collaboration becomes a life-changing journey for a team of scientists and one special panda named Qian Qian (pronounced Chen Chen). The film, captured with IMAX® cameras, follows Qian Qian on an exciting new adventure into the mountains of Sichuan as she experiences nature for the first time and discovers the freedom – and perils – of the wild side.
Filmmakers:
David Douglas and Drew Fellman, the filmmakers behind “Born to be Wild” and “Island of Lemurs: Madagascar,” directed the film, which Fellman wrote and produced, with Douglas as director of photography. Donald Kushner and Steve Ransohoff also produced the film, with Li Xiao Dong, David Haring, and Elie Samaha executive producing. “Born to be Wild” and “Island of Lemurs: Madagascar” editor Beth Spiegel and composer Mark Mothersbaugh collaborated with Douglas and Fellman once again, with sound design by Gus Koven.
IMAX Entertainment presents, in association with IMAX Documentary Films Capital, Jin Yi Culture Investment (HK) and Panda Productions, “Pandas.” This film, distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures and IMAX, will be released in select IMAX® and IMAX® 3D theaters starting April 6, 2018. The film is rated G.
California Science Center:

“Watching the film and visiting our Ecosystems Gallery will provide our guests with the knowledge and inspiration to help take better care of the animals around us and the habitats they live in.”

Abigail Zoe Lewis from Better Call Saul loved the movie!
Maurice Benard, Sonny Corinthos, from General Hospital also loved the movie.
My aunt (on my husband’s side) has been in the industry for many years as well (She plays Nikki on The Young and the Restless) so we shared a moment about how cool Melody is and how soap opera fans are the best fans!
This was a fun-packed day where we all learned more about these sweet creatures and the great efforts China and the US are making to help increase the wild panda population.
California Science Center is offering 4 tickets for a lucky dandelion to view this awesome nature documentary at the center. Good Luck!
Note: Hosted by Warner Bros. Entertainment but all opinions are my own.
