ALITA: BATTLE ANGEL opens in theatres on February 14th

ALITA: BATTLE ANGEL

From visionary filmmakers James Cameron (AVATAR) and Robert Rodriguez (SIN CITY), comes ALITA: BATTLE ANGEL, an epic adventure of hope and empowerment. When Alita (Rosa Salazar) awakens with no memory of who she is in a future world she does not recognize, she is taken in by Ido (Christoph Waltz), a compassionate doctor who realizes that somewhere in this abandoned cyborg shell is the heart and soul of a young woman with an extraordinary past.

As Alita learns to navigate her new life and the treacherous streets of Iron City, Ido tries to shield her from her mysterious history while her street-smart new friend Hugo (Keean Johnson) offers instead to help trigger her memories. But it is only when the deadly and corrupt forces that run the city come after Alita that she discovers a clue to her past – she has unique fighting abilities that those in power will stop at nothing to control. If she can stay out of their grasp, she could be the key to saving her friends, her family and the world she’s grown to love.

My daughter and I attended the red carpet premiere and screening in Los Angeles last week.  It was pretty cool hearing James Cameron talk a little about the movie and how talented Director Robert Rodriguez is and the process of making Alita come alive.   Based on the first four volumes of the manga series Battle Angel Alita by Yukito Kishiro, this is a story a young woman’s journey to self-discovery.  The film asks what does it mean to be human?  Are you human if you have a heart, a brain or a soul?  You can’t help but root for Alita throughout the film.

I have to say this is one awesome role model for kids, especially girls.  I love how fearless Alita is and the fight scenes are quite spectacular.  A fascinating movie about friendships and family, this is a great movie to take the kids to.  If you love sci-fi/fantasy/futuristic films, you are going to love Alita!  I have always been so fascinated by fillmmakers perception of what the future holds for mankind, and this movie takes us on a unique journey of how the world could be.  We already see artificial limbs in present day, who is to say we won’t be making full body cyborgs.  The movie takes you down that imaginary road and I rather enjoyed it!  I guess I would since The Fifth Element is one of my all-time favorite films!  And that character was re-created by a few cells. Awesome!

Be sure to check it out this weekend with the family!  Out in theaters February 14, 2019
