Inspirational Mom :: Alix Clymer of The Unicorn Tribe

You ever come across a beauty product that you just have to tell your friends about? A must-have to include in your beauty repertoire? Well, I am here to tell you friends about a new product created by my friend and owner of Alkali Beauty, Michelle Carter, and founder of The Unicorn Tribe, Alix Clymer. These ladies have collaborated and created a one-of-a-kind hair-care product that is my new favorite hair therapy I use every day! The botanical CBD Oil reconstructs and regenerates essential hair protein to prevent breakage while building collagen and elastin for stronger healthy hair. If you color your hair, or it is just in need of some TLC, you must try this product out! I have noticed a big improvement on moisture loss after I get my hair colored and helps protect my hair when I use styling tools.

I spoke with Michelle last month about the new product and she said that Unicorn Milk helps with compromised hair. It is great for getting the kids tangles out too! The CBD acts as an anti-inflammatory and it is one of the first hair-care products available using CBD oil. She and Alix were motivated to put CBD in a haircare product and they have found it helps to seal hair cuticles – leaving us with a soft and healthy head of hair. I am a huge fan and use it in the morning before I blow-dry my hair and before I got to sleep at night. And Michelle recommends it’s ideal to sleep on a silk pillowcase as it’s the best thing for your hair and skin!

“We called it Unicorn Milk because it’s magical like the many benefits of CBD.”

~ Michelle Carter, co-owner Alkali Beauty

Alix Maya, founder of The Unicorn Tribe has created a global hairdressing movement. She has created a collective of over 250,000 members and is the largest, independent hairdressing movement in the country. The vision she had was to start this collective to support, encourage and share positivism within the industry. And she has the most gorgeous hair don’t you think? I had a chance to speak to Alix about The Unicorn Tribe and the new collaboration with Alkali Beauty and their amazing product, Unicorn Milk.

“Protecting your art, one strand at a time.”

~ Alix Clymer

What inspired you to start The Unicorn Tribe?

I wanted to create a safe space for like minded out of the box artists to connect and ultimately thrive. The platform is multifaceted with a private forum for auditioned members only and a public Instagram page for all, consumers and artists alike. Our website www.unicorntribecollective.com is launching soon, giving both consumers and artists a direct line to each other. So often I receive messages on my social media platforms asking if I can recommend a Unicorn Tribe Artist in a particular city or state, that lead me to create the website where each artist is searchable by state directly by the consumer. The website will host a few new features in our industry I’m extremely excited to announce. I’m an advocate for myself and all other artists no matter the genre but clearly particularly hairstylists and makeup artists to be treated, paid and credited properly by all outside entities. This new platform will change the game entirely.

What advice would you give a woman looking to go into business for herself?

OMG wait where do I start?! Well, I would give the same advice I’m currently giving my 18 year old daughter who is starting her own business…. and that is to get educated.Take business classes, learn the logistics of your industry, and watch and observe how the market flows. Also, and I can’t stress this enough, be your authentic self on social media! I honestly love my “squad”, I don’t even like saying followers – it sounds so egotistical to be honest. I love my squad and we actually like each other because of what we are exchanging. Posting your truth, your likes, dislikes and having conversations with people that enjoy what you do will build your empire faster than you think. And honestly it’s way cooler to do it with people that genuinely dig what you’re about in my book! Oh and READ every successful entrepreneur’s book. Sophia Amaruso “Nasty Gal” is one of my absolute favorites!

Why do you think the Unicorn Milk product has been so well received?  What are some ingredients that sets it apart from the competition?

OMG first of all, I’m floored by the response, it’s kinda surreal to be honest. I’ve been in the position of product ambassador for multiple hair companies and the Global Artistic Director for a color company during my career, but nothing compares to being part of a product actual creation! Unicorn Milk was made by three hairstylists with hairstylists and consumers in mind. I personally wanted a conditioning spray that would assist in my color applications by prepping the hair, and maintaining the color for at home use, it’s fantastic for cutting and detangling as well. As a consumer myself, I wanted something that would feel and smell fresh in my hair to blow dry, refresh already dry hair, and to simply air-dry and feel smooth and light to the touch! The carefully combined ingredients of Aloe Vera, Hydrolyzed Wheat Protein, Grape Seed Oil, Acai Fruit Extract, and Argan Oil is truly the magic behind Unicorn Milk!
