DIY Christmas Craft & Decor Ideas

This year might be the first time in a long time we won’t be getting a Christmas tree.  I just don’t think it would be a good idea since our 8 month old puppy is still chewing everything in sight and he will probably think the tree, ornaments and presents are just for him to eat and destroy.  So I am planning on making some other holiday crafts that we can make to celebrate the season and put up and away from prying puppy eyes.  Hope you enjoy these holiday ideas as well!

Felt Ball Garland:

I have been seeing these felt balls everywhere and love how Oh Happy Day provides a simple tutorial to make your own.  They can be pricey to purchase but she provides a link where you can purchase them for much cheaper than what you would find at the store.  We just might be making this garland to put on our mini- Charlie Brown tree that will be placed up on the kitchen counter away from the puppy!  To read more go to Oh Happy Day.

Pinecone Elves:

Though they don’t show the final product for this pinecone elves craft – I figured the little shoes and mittens were reason enough to try this craft out.  The little hat and scarf are just too cute!  Martha Stewart online provides a pdf to download everything  and you can find some pinecones at your local craft store or on your next nature walk. DIY Advent Calendar:

Just love this fun idea from A Bubbly Life!  This looks pretty easy to make (always a must on my list). She uses plastic animals, paints them with spray paint and puts little red pom poms on their noses.  So creative!  Plan to make this to put on our fireplace mantel!  To read how to make this go to A Bubbly Life.

An Outdoor Frosty:

Love this idea from Family Holiday that entails using a couple branch wreaths, some paint, a festive scarf, and either a top hat or ski cap,  to top off your own Frosty!  To read more go to Family Holiday.

Make Your Own Advent Calendar:

I love this Advent Calendar from Crafts Unleashed and it looks pretty simple to make.  You can make this craft with the kids and stuff each little box with goodies to be opened daily.  To read how to make your very own go to Crafts Unleashed.

Reindeer Ornaments:

These are so sweet!  I usually love any type of reindeer or frosty decorations and our house if filled with these critters over the holidays. Go to any Christmas Tree lot near you and ask for some of the end pieces they cut off for their customers.  Read how to make these at The Shabby Creek Cottage.

What is your favorite holiday craft you like to make for others?
